Castle Wolfenstein would like a word with you.
ZB, I love Wolfenstein 3D and dated a guy for about 6 months solely because he had a copy of it. But, I never considered it a stealth game. I killed everything I could. I guess you could play it for stealth, but it never occurred to me to do so.

You're thinking of an entirely different Wolfenstein. ZB is talking about the original Caste Wolfenstein that came out for 8-bit computers back in the early-mid 80's.

Well. Wow. I didn't realize there was an earlier Wolfenstein than 3D. It was released in 1981 back when I didn't have a console. I only got to play Atari games at my friends' houses. I am sorry I missed that one.

It would be kind of funny if
Dishonored was a retroactive inspiration for this. :joke:
But I'm glad they've finally posted some footage, screenshots and behind the scenes pictures. Finally ! (Here's hoping they'll finish the game this year or the next and get the gameplay right, I hate buginess...)
Has anything been revealed yet about when this is set ? Prequel, sequel, reboot ? (Note to self: Gotta check Garrett's face for scars and mech eyes.)
Not a fan of the veil on the face, but I don't mind it (I tried out our version once in the T3 texture pack, but it didn't grow on me). As for the bow - I do hope they gave it a reticule. You know, why would we need such a complicated bow, if you won't have a reticule... :p I'd still prefer a wooden one, in any case.
I think that, at the very worst, it will be like
DE : R. Not a perfect new installment, but a good one nonetheless. I just hope there will be enough mobility and that they don't mess up the light aspects of the stealth.

Unfortunately, the differences are hard to see in a series of stills. The differences, or lack thereof, will become obvious when the game is played. I hope for a good demo to give a glimpse of game mechanics and ambiance.
Exactly. I do hope they'll gradually release proper gameplay previews. I'd like to see how they implemented the classic features and whether they've thought of any possible improvements (well, actual working ones, I hope the gameplay won't be cumbersome).

Garrett has the scar and an eye of a different color. Who knows if there was a Viktoria in this reboot? The interviews and articles and video dialogue are where much of the concern for T4 comes from, not the images alone. Starting in May 2009, there has been more said by EM employees that wasn't really assuring, and eyebrow-raising, than comforting, but it's nice to hear that old ideas that sucked have been ditched or revised. In PMs, a couple of us had separate talks with EM employees who let us know that some comments by upper management weren't representative of the T4 team at the time, and it was stated in a way that implied an unhealthy disagreement. A few months later, major changes in the employee roster occurred, and again every few months, which was probably a coincidence, but it never felt like it. We'll likely never know what went down, unless the post mortem for the game gets down to the nitty gritty.

Petike, Dishonoured was inspired by Thief. There's an easter egg to Thief in the last level, but I haven't gotten there yet, so I don't know what it is, and I don't want to know yet.
jtr7, is this considered a reboot then? I'm never sure till things actually get released. I thought I read in that bulleted list that Garrett left the city after 3 and he's only just returned, finding the plague and the Baron.
TO EVERYONE: This is just my opinion----I don't like reboots myself, I feel if the original was good enough (or great in many cases) then what's the point? Make a new IP or set it in the same world with other people as the focus. This is mainly to do with the new Star Trek, but there have been movies that I don't like because I loved the original. Mind you, this is what I feel, not what I think is right for everyone. I'm not trying to tell anyone what to think. Just my 2 cents. This doesn't have to be commented on or addressed, I just wanted to say it.

It's looking to me like they are rebooting the franchise, not going back to the beginning of the story, starting up what has been on pause for 9 nine years, as kind of a sequel, but not holding dearly to the canon or that universe, revising everything for a new audience so they can sell bigger numbers and make more sequels.

Thanks. I couldn't really tell. We'll have to wait and see what they show us next I guess.

I remember planning an FM with a plague ~2003 and thinking it was the coolest idea ever (a dramatization of Camus's The Plague to be exact; I still might do it someday), and then Rowena's Curse came out & stole its thunder... Then dark mod had a plague ward. More recently dishonored happened. Now T4... At this point a plague is about the most overdone thing in my mind... But I understand all that means less to the general public.
