"Completely unraveled". Really? How hysterical.

Thief ..who looks like Dishonored...
...Dishonored who looks like thief who looks like Assassin creed.. who looks like..
...ohh come on guys....
that's not the problem.
Most of you think about his own personal experience with the original thief, that's pretty unique.
Developers are trying to do their best let's give them a chance..
After said that i must admit that some settings and the first impression is not very positive.
Basically Thief is a 'total immersive experience' for the player... it CAN'T BE 3rd person.
The scenery looks too much modern victorian style, i hope these are only from a map inside a more various kind of environments.
The lights seems to be too much high.
The original medieval setting seems to be lost.. and that is a real pity because i belive in the equation : less complex structures=more focus on atmosphere.
choices....
but even if this new thief will disappoint me i will not be worried at all...
...it will mean to me only the fact that the next step (thief 5) will be one of my personal problem :cheeky:

If I were to take some screenshots to showcase something I was working on, I'd choose more well-lit areas to show off architecture and stuff.
I could be wrong, but I suspect that's what they've done here.
They're much more interesting to look at than screenshots with rooms in darkness, IMO.

What the hell are you talking about? ... Everything was a lot better 10 years ago.
Thanks for that Renz, I laughed 'til I cried. :thumb:

Yeah, more quasi-hysteria. :laff: He's consistently had the best jokes in these discussions. I still don't know who he's riffing on, though.

I am just waiting to see what happens. Thief created the stealth genre, so ALL stealth games hearken back to TDP & TMA. Yes there are similarities, but it is always the differences which make a game a classic or a failure. Just think about all the Thief FMs, especially the early ones before all the video enhancements were created. Unfortunately, the differences are hard to see in a series of stills. The differences, or lack thereof, will become obvious when the game is played. I hope for a good demo to give a glimpse of game mechanics and ambiance.

That's what I thought. Yes, I know you don't understand what's being said.

Castle Wolfenstein would like a word with you.

The shots have too much ambient light if you ask me.
I would bet that's the standard...otherwise, how could you use a "dark tint cloak[ing] the edges of the screen" to tell when you're hidden in the dark? A dark tint in a dark room is pretty useless.
(although, to be fair, the article didn't say anything about detecting when you're in the dark, it just said it would indicate that you're "safely hidden from the guard's view" which could just mean direct line of sight)
