If you ever want some board/card games, check out (
http://bluehighwaygames.com/default.aspx) Blue Highway Games. They're pretty awesome and have actually managed to be really successful even with all the other game stores in the nation closing. And if you still rent movies (as opposed to Netflix or pirating or whatever) Video Isle is very nice.
Man, why did my folks sell our house in Queen Anne in 1990 >_<

I really can't explain where Queen Anne is because I have no idea how to relate it to wherever the canonical downtown is. It's about 2 miles north of Pike Place, I believe, which might serve as some sort of zero point for the city.
Queen Anne is north of downtown, and it squats atop Elliot Bay. It's a huge fucking hill (a few feet shorter than the Space Needle) with three giant radio spikes poking through its back. You'll notice it almost immediately, and it's visible from almost anywhere from Seattle.
I don't envy you trying to find your way around it the first few weeks though. There's a ton of dead ends and streets that curve around each other and meet in ways that are not intuitive. The Queen Anne grid is not a triumph of urban planning. BUT: It's a pretty cool place to live and anywhere in Seattle worth going is a 15 minute drive away. Good luck moving!
P.S. All the Satriani fans I know live up in Everett or Lynnwood (commuter town/suburbs way north). But Seattle is pretty musically diverse. I know for a fact that KEXP (local indie radio at 90.3 whose stickers you will see everywhere) has a dedicated segment for metal.

And all those not in the area can listen to a high-quality stream at kexp.org, as well as "song of the day" podcasts and whatnot.
