I've recently found myself, in the local library browsing the autobiography/biography sections in a desperate bid to learn about those "famous and influential" people who have lived and understand what they did and why its important to my life.
Call it a renewed fascination in other people, or simply because I've gotton bored of reading the same drivel but I picked up Christopher Meyer's "DC Confidential", being the ex British Ambassador to the United States memories on his life in the States and the events of 9/11.
So what other memoirs/auto/biographys are considered in the literature world "essential" to gain an insight into these behemoths of our time - both now and in the past.
