While AirLink works well for me on my Quest 2, I'd heard in various places that for some people Virtual Desktop is still the better solution, so I gave that one a try over the weekend. It took me a while to get it to work (mainly because I didn't properly read the instructions), but once it worked and I'd tweaked it a bit I can say that for me it's a bit more responsive than AirLink (though this could probably be improved by tweaking the settings) and the visual quality is quite a bit better. It makes me think that the games I'd been playing in wired mode (mainly sit-down VR games played with a gamepad) I'll be playing via Virtual Desktop in the future.
And this is where I've been wondering for about a week now whether I should get myself a steering wheel to play Dirt Rally 2.0, because I could imagine that the combination of VR and having a steering wheel to play with could make the immersiveness of the game go through the roof. Realistically speaking, I know that I wouldn't use the wheel for all that many games other than Dirt Rally, but that's not enough to make me reject the idea outright...
P.S.: When I talk about the better visual quality I get with VD, I'm mainly talking about the sharpening the software does. Perhaps someone more sensitive to sharpening artifacts would hate this, but to me the overall image looks great, whereas it's clearly more muddy when playing via AirLink.

Thanks to the people on here who recommended Walkabout Mini Golf! My wife and I got it about a month ago and have played it literally every day since then.

PSVR2 announced!
Still wired, but the first major player to have foveated rendering and controller and headset haptics.

While I wouldn't consider running the original PSVR on PC, the new one could be quite an appealing alternative to Oculus and Index if it works.
Looks like there's (
https://www.trinusvirtualreality.com/psvr/) already a third-party app to get the original PSVR working with PC, so fingers crossed they update it to support the new model too.

I've already mentioned it in the "What are we playing?" thread, but the combo of Dirt Rally 2.0, VR and a steering wheel is amazing. The difference to playing on a gamepad reminds me of when the Touch controllers first came out and you could interact with stuff by reaching out and grabbing it, seeing your hands where you knew them to be.

Had a similar experience with Elite Dangerous and my HOTAS set-up, only amplified by the fact the the stick in the Elite Dangerous cockpit was very closely modelled on the stick I have, the Saitek X52 Pro.
But I eventually went back to using TrackIR instead of VR, as it provided much of the same experience, but without the reduced resolution.

What are you doing for shifting? Automatic? Flippers? Stick shift?
Thirith on 6/1/2022 at 10:11
Automatic. I could use the flippers that the wheel has, but I've never shifted manually in any game. I'm already finding it more than difficult enough just to concentrate on steering, accelerating and braking. If I had to take my hands off the steering wheel to do another thing, my brain might break (or should that be 'brake'?).
