Sounds fun, but while it's hot (and they're predicting temperatures of 35°C next week) the only VR gaming I can do without it feeling extremely hot and icky is of the more slow, sedate kind. If you report back that Serious Sam VR is good, though, I'll gladly give it a try at a later stage, say autumn. :D

My Oculus stopped working after a recent big Windows update. I've tried removing everything and re-installing but the installation always hangs at like 90%.
Gonna try to really scrub out every last trace of the software and install to another drive some day when I've got time and patience for it, but for the moment I am VR-less. :(

Aw man! I hope it'll resolve itself soon...
... not least because this looks pretty cool:

I like that the game combines interesting traversal options with first-person stealth, though I'd want to see whether the level design and AI are reasonably good.

Yeah Espire 1 looks pleasingly systems-heavy. And it looks like it's learned the right lessons from the successes and failures of previous VR stealth games. It's got a lot of the stuff (
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143292&page=41&p=2400414&viewfull=1#post2400414) I wished for in a game like this, including climbing, stun prod, and not much crouching required.
Also, I managed to get my Rift running again. Scrubbing my computer of every last trace of Oculus stuff, including clearing out the registry, then detaching all the hardware and reinstalling did the trick.

I've not yet tried out the new Oculus Rift S update, mainly due to the heat and being away over the weekend, but it seems that they worked some proper magic with this one.
Due to its inside-out tracking, the Rift S had some issues with controller tracking, in particular with three scenarios: 1) when you move the controller behind your head or back, 2) when one of the controllers is too close to the headset, and 3) when one controller occludes the other, e.g. when you're holding a virtual gun with two hands, one in front of the other.
As I've said, I've not checked it out myself, but I've seen user videos, in particular one where someone using Tilt Brush was able to write the word "hello" behind their back. User feedback suggests that the improvement is downright uncanny. The inside-out tracking was already good out of the box, but the scenarios described above were less than ideal, but with the update it seems that the controller tracking is pretty much on par with the original Rift and a three-sensor setup. Apparently they're currently working on an update for the Quest headset so it can also benefit from these improvements.

Rogan is out and neither players nor critics are particularly enthused about it.

Sounds like it looks very pretty, but is way too simple to be any fun. :|
In other VR news, the free Spiderman: Far From Home VR experience is pretty good! Unlike most movie tie-ins, the focus in this one has not been on presentation, but on actual gameplay. You actually get to swing around a big portion of Manhattan, and fight a big robot and flying robo-drones. There's also a free roam mode with Time and Combat Trials.

I saw some of those reviews. That coupled with the $40 price tag definitely soured me on getting Rogan. Maybe when it's on sale later.

Thanks for the heads-up! Got myself Doom, because at that price I can definitely get it to satisfy my curiosity.

Let me know if any of you get to test Doom VFR or Budget Cuts on a CV1. I'm on the fence about those and the sale's running out.
