Black Jack Davy is the title of an old English folk song, which tells the tale of a Lord hunting a thief. Seems appropriate somehow. Although the name is mentioned many times in the song, Black Jack himself does not actually appear. Seems appropriate somehow. Black Jack Davy's crime? He stole the Lord's wife, making him the ultimate thief. Seems appropriate somehow.

I used the name Jarvis for a D&D rogue years ago. I still play him actually, he was in his early twenties when we started. Now he's in his upper forties. My intention was never to make him a "master thief" on the level of Garrett, as I didn't expect him to carry on so long. He's lvl 23 now, and I focused primarily on the hide and move silently skills. At this point, he has the skill mastery ability with both of them so I don't even have to roll dice for them anymore. They are assumed to be 63 for hide, and 54 for move silently, though if I choose to roll and get a 20, they are 71 and 62 respectively. Very few people have the ability to see him now. That combined with his paranoia and meticulous attention to detail, he has become quite the thief.
I carried the name with me to Thievery UT. It seemed appropriate. There I managed to carve a small reputation for myself as a ghoster. Back in the day, I was rather feared for my work in aquatone particularly, as well as gerome, bourgeois, and a couple of other maps.
So it only made sense to move the name over here, especially since a number of TUT players use these forums as well. In fact, the TUT forums used to be hosted here way back when I first started playing.

My original nick is Thief - yeah - i was very creative when i was 11, even more creative then i am now. So i got it from this great game, which was merely the only game my bro ever liked and i liked it too, so i decided to make the name of the game my nickname.
I want a hug.

My background is part Slovak and part Hungarian. Petike is a family diminutive of Peter in Hungarian (in Slovak it would be Peťko).
And I suppose everyone around here knows what a taffer is, so... ;)

It all started with my first netnick Silent Eloquence sometime in the middle of the nineties ('94?). I chose it because I have always been rather quiet, but less so in writing. I shortened it to sileloq and used that for a while. Then one day I, for some reason, turned it backwards and qolelis was born. Shortly after, I joined ttlg.

Sorry, I too have a similar name to black jack davy. I originally was bloppy (because my brother and sister used to call me that) for some reason, but thought it sounded stupid. I suppose after that, the name I chose was taken so I just picked one I thought wasn't. Should I change it?
