P.S. Blackman, according to people round here, the Skean Dhu was moved to the sock/boot specifically so it could be seen, out of politeness, and it had been carried in something not unlike a shoulder holster before then. Do a websearch for "Armpit Dagger" if you want more info on this version of the story. Thanks will do. The esoteric changes in usage, convention and cultural changes over time is always a fascinating subject.:thumb:

What I did was quite complicated. I took my forename (or rather, the bastardised, shortened version of my forename) and cunningly affixed it to my surname, thus bestowing upon myself a patented, Pele-style "one-word" nick

Jysala on 25/7/2003 at 22:27
This is a new name for me here on these forums. The original one I used was from an episode of Star Trek: TNG. (It was the name of a planet they were going to survey) Due to unfortunate circumstances, I have had to change my username to the one listed below. (There are only 2 people on this forum who know what I mean).
This name: Jysala, is a name that I came up with out of the blue, as a fictional character that I am writing. ( (

it's originally an IRC nick (still is)
don't know why i sticked with it
i get a lot of response for it.. not all of it positive though
i often say "i've earned my name" - while i really don't think i'm that bad of a man :-)

*shakes head* Good grief, look at this thread.
Well, my nickname isn't a particularly interesting story.
Freshman year of high school, I managed to get PE first period. So there I am - January, about 7am, the sun isn't even an inch over the horizon, and we're expected to go outside on icy grass and play badmitton in 30mph winds. So out I go, wearing the usual blue sweats. But I also don my blue gloves and blue ski mask. Coupled with my blue and black sneakers. One artist in the class points at me and says, "Look, it's a ninja!" His buddy replies, "You idiot, ninjas don't wear blue." Being the sharp wit he was, replies "So it's a blue ninja!"
I thought it was a cool sounding nickname, and I kept it for e-mail addresses and for a while, used it as a nickname of a character for roleplaying online. I've never run into anyone else who uses the nickname, though someone on ICQ thought I picked the nickname because of some motorcycle. (WTF?)
Ok, wake up and get on with your lives.
Yandros on 26/7/2003 at 05:06
Yandros is the highest ranking Lord of Chaos in British fantasy author Louise Cooper's brilliant Time Master trilogy, one of my favorite fantasy works. His sphere of control is Life and Death (the other six are Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Space and Time).
Random-EFT on 27/7/2003 at 02:52
Random was the name of my most favorite character when I played Dungeons and Dragons. He was chaotic in nature - no one ever knew what the hell he would do next, even me most of the time and I played him. The name Random clearly reflected his personality. I added the EFT because Random was already spoken for here - Stands for Elven-Fighter-Thief. Being a thief alone in D&D didn't allow for enough "muscle" so I went with the double classification (though it takes much longer to progress) so I could kick some ass when needed.:cheeky:
The name Random originally came from my favorite character in the book "Nine Princes in Amber", the first book of five in the Amber series, written by Roger Zelazny. Great read by the way, if you're into the Sci Fi / Fantasy genre. Read the books a long time ago but Random has always stuck with me.

necrokrome = dead chrome, like the bumper of an old car of mine.

Duh, only a quote from my two most favourite games :cheeky: (at par)
All my other internet nicks are composed of a quote of thief anyway...

Given by my brother and his gaming buddies.
Anyway cause of my love for thief and my shady character they named me Shade. My brother said it wasn't feminine enough so he changed the spelling and here I am.
