Theef-
Some have seen the episode of X-Files, some have not. Ironically, I started out with this name a long time ago, then I was gone for awhile, lost it, found it again, and it's with me for good.
Basically, it comes from the X-Files where an illiterate hillbilly with some Ozark-voodoo comes after a doctor and tries to take that doctor's life because he failed to save the hillbilly's daughter. The Hillbilly carves "THEEF" into the man's chest after stealing his heart from the body cavity.
I figured it fit the darkness of the game. And my playing style basically evolves eliminating everyone, every single game I play. I prefer nonlethal (like blackjacking) but if the situation calls for it, Garrett gets the job done with broadheads. I see Garrett's character as being teleological, not deontological.
But I am not,

Hmm... I could have sworn I explained my name in this thread, but apparently, I haven't. Must've been another of these "how'd you get your name" threads. Anyway, since it's been ressurected from the grave, let's have another go at it.
Nupraptor was a somewhat minor character in the very early Playstation game, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. He was, in fact, the very first boss. In the game, the entirety of the world was represented by Nine Pillars, each representing one element of the world (Conflict, Death, Balance, etc). Each Pillar had a corresponding Guardian which looked after them.
Then came the monkey wrench: A demonic entity known as Hask`Ak`Gik skillfully manipulated the Circle by possessing one of the members, the Necromancer Mortanius, and forcing him to slay his fellow Guardian, Ariel (the Guardian of Balance). Ariel's lover, the Mentalist Nupraptor, found her corpse, still warm from the slaying. Wracked with grief over her death and suspicious that her murderer was a traitor in the Circle, Nupraptor plunged into madness, allowing his insanity to spill over into the minds of the remaining Circle members. This blind act of vegeance poisoned not only the members of the Circle, but corrupted the Pillars which they stood for. Nupraptor then mutilated himself by sewing his eyes and mouth shut to block out the rest of the world. He slaughtered his servants, and locked himself away in his skull-shaped retreat.
As for why I chose him: The very first messageboard I ever used was the EidosInteractive UBB. When I went to register, I thought it was appropriate to try and pick a name that was somehow related to either Blood Omen, or the up-coming sequel, Soul Reaver. But I didn't want to pick one of the popular characters, like "Kain" or "Malek". So I chose Nupraptor.

Mine is an interesting tale of touble in paradise, and a thief who doesn't play by the rules. Well, not really, but it's bizzarre to the point of laughability. Long ago my brothers formed a "gang" (those two and their friend Shawn) called the DLMOB.(Dancing Leather Monkeis of Boise) One day while driving they saw a bumper sticker that said Falcons of Pasadeana. They decided that that would be their rival "gang". Later they asked if I wished to join their "gang". Where upon I said, "Um, no." They retorted, "Then you're an evil falcon." Thus I became known as The Falcon of EDFOP. (Evil Denim Falcons of Pasadeana) In an attempt to incorporate this new falcon identity into as many things as possible I called one of the kanks in a D&D adventure we were having (don't get me wrong, we are not hardcore D&D weirdos, most of the time we don't follow a large protion of the rules) Kestrel. Unforunately, being young and ignorant I mispelled it Kestril. Continuing to bask in my ignorance I chanced upon this forum. Tired of calling myself The Falcon on everything I decided to call myself Kestril. A few days later I realized it was mispelled and quickly developed a cover story. It is mispelled because my characters family name is Falcone. Which is not quite falcon, and similarly Kestril is not quite kestrel. This also gives meaning to my siganture, which is the Falcone family motto. "Not quite a falcon, but close enough to be just as dangerous." Hmm, that story takes longer to type then it does to tell.

I chose my name because it was short. And, if you have to use a particular letter, Z is undeniably the greatest. No other story.

Mine is just my initials, simple as that. :)

Burt,
Every time I see your nick I think of Burt Reynolds, but then, you're much smarter than he, as is evident in your posts. Then again, I could think of Bert, from Sesame Street, but that's spelled wrong, and ever since the "Evil Bert" site, I can never again watch that show, so I'd rather not associate you with that negative image, either. Can you please give me a different "video feed" to go with your nick? I don't want to have scary dreams anymore when I read your posts (for reasons having less to do with you and more to do with a babysitter when I was nine, and she had a moustache, but really, my therapist says I'm getting better...).
