go out and over to the Weapons Shop and shoot a rope arrow up high into a wood portion of the roof...(secret) and open door up there. Follow passage and drop down to where you land on rim (or mantel up to it if necessary). Look up and find several water arrows/moss arrows...and have good shots at spiders. Then drop down into water and find hidden passage to find a couple of things...you'll get next objective, etc. :) If you've already done that by now...do it afterwards at some point to get extra goods. ;) Good Luck!
Next to the mechnaist priest with the key's room, on both sides, there's these double doors facing the courtyard. I can't find the room that has to be next to the mechanist's bed, even though the banner over the bed ain't slashable. Can't climb in that way, either, it seems. I could try getting in from the courtyard, but there's even less places to stick a rope arrow on that side, than the other (which I did climb in through)
Is there a switch I've missed, or can I get in from the courtyard, or is it a dead end placed there just for the teasing?
Thanks for the FM, BTW. I can't remember much of the original, but that goes for many excellent FMs, I've found :/ Anyhow, I'm having great fun playing this :)
Edit: There's some really nice rooftop views in this mission, BTW. I could even see the secret Keeper Compound from one rooftop ;)

Quick search of thread but don't want to read too many spoilers. I need this key:
Dock house safe key. I found a wall safe up in the mechanist's place with a diary that said key & treasure at dock house. I am in Calvin's room which I presume is the dock house and there is a safe but no sign of a key. In this thread there is a ref to a key in the mechanist's place. But if so, where? And why the clue that the key is in the dock house? Or the key referred to in the diary a key to something else and it is inside the dock safe? I'll go back and check that sleeping mechanist's room where the wall safe is I think. Also that info about the keeper thief who jumped in the water and poisoned himself - is that a clue there is something in the water? I found nothing.
Fidcal,
The key mentioned in the diary in the mechanist temple is inside the dock house safe. You need to find a way to open that portcolis blocking the safe.
If you're having trouble opening the portcolis, here's a hint:
To open the potcolis, search the engine building at the docks.
As for the hint referring to the Keeper Thief, yes there is something important under the water.
Hint:
Search near the stone under the water.
No, the key I wanted was
the one to open the safe. I backtracked to the mechanist's room and it was in his safe at the side of the book. I missed it somehow before and just read the diary and went!
So far so good.

(catching up on FM's....dowloaded a bunch today from 2003!)
Just finished: Found all secrets 4, and ended up with 1974 in loot. Great mission!! This ranks up there with one of the most fun I've played recently.
But I really thought I was very thorough in finding loot, yet ended up 368 short :erg: Anyone got a loot list?
Also, I worked like mad to get up into that room (visible to the right as you look up, after going through the double barred doors leading from the other side of town) next to Malvyne's room (it took lots of crates, lots of attempted jumps, and repeated balancing on the ledge) to find absolutely nothing! Not a sausage...not even an easter egg :tsktsk: That took me forever to get up there! :laff:
Great job, and now to play part 2!!!
theImmortalThief on 16/2/2008 at 15:04
yeah...heh...that room was a bit of a tactical error I think.
I tried to make it unaccessible. But it seems like I underestimated the persistence and talent of you taffers! :thumb:

Found the 4th secret:
Before opening the metal door to access the secret keeper compound area - look up. Have a rope arrow handy!
I completed the level and before I return to my room in the Inn, I want to find all secrets. I'm facing Two problems, though:
- I tried opening the secret door/bookcase in the antique dealer's room, but after searching for a switch, hitting it 40 times and throwing an explosive barrel to it, I gave up. How do I open this thing?

- English isn't my native language, so I'm not sure what is meant by the secret keeper compound area. Is that the jail where all the strange creatures are being held? The fourth secret should be above a metal door. Could someone give me directions from the point where I'm entering the building of the keepers? Thank you so much
Hi Goatrider.
The Keeper Compound is the big building you reach by going through the secret book case in the bookstore. In the room behind the secret bookcase in the bookstore, look up at the ceiling. There is an opening.
As for the secret in the antique dealer's room: There is a hidden switch on the top left of the picture frame over the bed. It is a bit hard to find.
I hope that helps, and I hope you enjoyed the mission.
