Not sure I understand you correctly, MrDuck... Are you saying that Sulphur is the worst tragedy in gaming history? If so, that'd be a bit harsh...
... although I do remember him shooting me in the face during the most recent Arma session - and that was in coop.

I'm not sure why people are casting all these aspersions. I did mention I threw that grenade... eventually.
(Also I shot you because I had no idea you were behind me and I was being shot by someone. It's a dog eat dog world, man!)
Also wait for me to release a game before impugning my reputation, dammit.

It’s a tragedy how he hasn’t let dem sideburns go wild. UNF.

Off the top of my head:-
* Deus Ex being shitcanned after Mankind Divided's financial failure.
* Eternal Darkness being stuck on Gamecube.
* Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes being stuck on Gamecube.
* Dead Space being screwed over by executive meddling, ticking boxes of hot trends of the time in an attempt to reach a wider audience (eg co-op campaign, heavy action focus). When it backfired the series being shitcanned.
* Red Dead Redemption 1 never coming to PC.

The only real tragedy of the new Deus Ex games is how forgettable (and monochromatic) they were.

I disagree. Mankind Divided was excellent, as was the final DLC released.
The previous 2 DLCs though were average.

I had a really hard time playing the final DLC for MD after playing Dishonored 2; the world and the way you interact with it feels off to me for some reason. I wouldn't call DXHR or DXMD bad games, but they have some design decisions that bug the shit out of me. These guys picked up on most of the stuff that bothered me I think:

IMO Mankind Divided seriously suffers from a lack of polish. It desperately wants to be AAA, but it doesn't really get there; there are too many small things off with respect to controls, movement, visuals, but the game doesn't really do anything particularly interesting so it needed that polish IMO. It's not a diamond in the rough like the Stalker games, for instance, so it doesn't really get away with being scrappy.

I thought the visuals were great and there's lots of detail in the world, but the engine is poorly optimized. In general, the PC port of Mankind Divided seems like a weaker effort than its predecessor. Mouse look was broken at release, and even after the patches it's still feels a little off. The inventory interface also suffers from some console baggage. Nixxes did a better job with Human Revolution. I agree with ZB when it comes to Mankind Divided. It feels like a Human Revolution expansion pack. The gameplay is the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the story isn't very interesting and doesn't go anywhere.
Since this thread is alive again, I'll say that the worst tragedy in gaming history is the way franchises have come to dominate the industry and suck up all of the funding in the big studios.
