It's OK, but I don't relish getting into any fights as there is no challenge to it other than hit them and don't get hit yourself. The difficulty settings don't seem to do anything but increase the length of the process.
Still, TW3 > TW2 > TW1 and it's worth more than the price of entry alone for the content though.

I, um, hmm. So, what kind of combat system
is still challenging when you can hit them and not get hit yourself? :D

I guess I'm just way too fond of Dark Souls and older games like Severance to be happy with anything where you can essentially get away with a lot of button mashing.

Also, I've put in a lot of hours, so I've maybe just seen all there is to see combat-wise. Either way, it's not hurting my enjoyment, just not greatly adding to it, but I see it primarily a story with a game built around it than a series of fights with a story layered over it.

Progress report: I've made it to the island of Undvik, which by the way is the Swedish word for "avoid". I have a bad feeling about this place.

I have to admit that I've been finding it really difficult to get into this game after DS2 and Bloodborne (ds1 was completed ages ago). While there's little point comparing these games overall, on combat alone W3 feels very unsatisfying. I think I will need to park it for a while so that I can enjoy it for what it's worth rather than comparing it to the DS style games.

I play it for the story, characters and setting. For me, the best interaction with the world comes from the crafting system and how the potions and bombs etc... feed into the lore via the bestiary. The combat is ok, but there's little challenge in it compared with those games, so definitely not worth comparing.
Oh and Gwent. I possibly love Gwent more than any minigame ever (though I reckon FF8's Triple Triad would give it a run for its money).

I've spent more time on Gwent than the open world RPG thingy attached to it. It's KOTOR and Pazaak all over again.

I'd actually be OK with Gwent as a lockpicking minigame, if only for the sweet, sweet frequency.
I'd take it in place of combat. And conversations. In real life.

Am I the only person here who didn't like Gwent all that much?
Granted, I never really took the time to learn how to play it beyond the basics, but still. To me, it got in the way of that sweet, sweet open world RPG.
