how about we dont refer to people regarding their skin colour or geographical location at all?
Not acceptable. We need to get back to bitching about how all the people in a game made by Slavics, set in a Slavic region, inspired by slavic history only has slavic people in it.
Anyway my progress has been surprisingly slow. So far my current methodology has been to clean out my quest log by level with lower level quests being first. I'm getting what feels like being close to traveling to Skellige

Dang, so I'm reaching a point where I'm getting kinda bored of it, much as I always do with open-world RPGs. Getting tired of the same old villages, open fields and battles. Which is a shame cause I know there's so much more thought and style going into each person and quest, and I'm barely into the main storyline so there's still so much ahead.
How do I re spark the magic :|

Get into the main storyline. It gets very interesting very quickly.

... infuriating horse controls...
What type of controller are you using incidentally? I also had issues with controlling the horse until I went back to using the 'mode' button (so that movement is handled by the d-pad rather than the left joystick) on my F710, which is how I normally play whenever I use a controller to play games on the PC.
Not very far into this so far but definitely happy that I upgraded my system recently to play the game at the highest settings. It's just beautiful and the attention to detail is amazing. One thing that struck me as being a little strange though is how clean and new everyone's clothes look.

I haven't bothered posting in here 'cause I've been too busy playing the game that's impressed me most since the original Deus Ex fifteen years ago.
Anyway, new big patch incoming, 1.07.
Quote:
A new, alternative (optional) movement response mode for Geralt.
A player stash for storing items, available in various locations throughout the game. Stash locations are marked on the player's map.
Crafting and alchemy components no longer add to the overall inventory weight.
Books are now placed in a dedicated tab in the Inventory and books that have already been read are properly grayed out.
Multiple sorting options are now available in the Inventory.
Alchemy formulas and crafting diagrams can be "pinned", meaning all components and ingredients required to make them will be conveniently marked in the Shop panel.
Dozens of fixes for quest related issues, both major and minor.
A few performance enhancements, including the optimization of FX, scenes and general gameplay.
Various improvements to horse behavior.
First one's very intriguing, but I'm really hoping for stability fixes, I've been crashing like crazy since I've upgraded to 1.06 last week. 1.02 through 1.05 I was rock solid on my ages-old 344.16 nVidia drivers, but 1.06 torpedoed that and upgrading to the latest drivers doesn't make it any better.
Also, wishlist - would be nice if they bound "leave boat" to the generic interaction key, instead of locking it to E, and a HUD on/off toggle would be equally welcome.

Eh, still much better than Skyrim's. You can actually
turn in place.

Just beat it, and there's a MAJOR retcon from the books that occurs during the game's finale...hell, even within the game as they refer to events from the book:
In the books, Ciri is NOT the one who can open the gate between worlds. She is only capable of teleporting herself. In fact, her control over space and time is relatively weak in and of itself. The reason why everyone wants at her is because her son is destined to be the one who is capable of forcing open the gates between worlds and enabling inter-planar travel on a large scale. The Aen Elle elves weren't interested in her for her own power, they were literally trying to breed her so that they would have control over the destined seed.
Yes. Everyone is, very literally, interested in Ciri for the contents of her trousers.

Sorry twisty, didn't see this question until just now.
Initially, I was using an old wired 360 pad, but then switched to my PS4 pad (needs to get
some use).
However, since I initially posted about terrible swimming controls, they have patched it making it better. Not perfect, but definitely better.
