To be completely honest, the Ekhidna Decoction is probably too powerful. I've specced in to fast attacks and Whirl, and simply triggering Whirl is enough to completely restore my health bar, even if I have barely any health left.
It's hardly the only thing in the game that's a little too overpowered for its own good. I've got Igni specced up, and most of my fights start off with me walking into a crowd of people like a flamethrower, setting them on fire, then concentrating whirl on one person. I can win most battles doing that with only a minimal amount of effort.
Only enemies with large weapons, like a poleaxe, can throw me for a loop, since they're the only ones capable of blocking a solid beatdown right in the middle of it.

Glad to hear Igni is back to being severely overpowered like it was in the first game. I kind of missed that in the second one. :P

Malf (I believe) and I have the newer Maxwell Geforces, which from what I understand, aren't quite as mature driverwise as your Kepler chip. That's probably why you're seeing less crashes than I am.
Sucks for me, but I get to run the game at a higher framerate with all the options on. :P

I do indeed have a GTX 970. Saying that, since those 3 crashes in the morning on Thursday, the game's been pretty rock solid for me, only crashing once today.
And IT'S STILL GETTING BIGGER.
When the game first came out I was running a first gen Maxwell card (750Ti) and last week I upgraded to a 2nd gen Maxwell (970); both with v352.86 "ready for Witcher 3" driver .In 18 hours of play not a single crash.
I should note that I am running the Steam version and Win 8.1. All that I've queried who're experiencing CTDs on Nvidia hardware seem to have two things in common:- GOG version + Win 7. I suggest that you guys try executing the game independently and not through the GOG Galaxy client. Galaxy is still in beta and frankly immature trash; it's descended from the GOG Downloader and frankly that was always buggy shit too.

And it's not the only one. Aard can throw people out in a 360 degree radius if you stat it up, Quen can create a bubble around you that can't be broken until you run out of stamina (or some hits it really, really hard). I think even Yrden can get ridiculous if you go down the tree.
If it weren't for the fact that the bad guys can hit me just as hard as I hit them, it'd be a pretty easy.
Eva, I downloaded the game through Galaxy, but I grabbed the patches off GOG, and fire up the game directly from the executable. I'm pretty sure that fix I posted above finally did the trick for me, though. Throughout yesterday and today, I haven't seen even a single hiccup.

It is done. :D
About time too. I was starting to get Witchered out.

Also, one humorous bit I forgot:
It would appear that the rumors about the peller "ploughing" his goat are well founded.

Or at least he's pretty fond of them.

Geralt trained his whole life to be a living weapon and has a legendary reputation. I'd fully expect him to have powerful magic; it makes logical sense given Geralt's back story and the fiction universe.
Contrast that to JC Denton who's a genetically engineered and bionically enhanced super soldier working for an international CT taskforce, yet he's can't hold and aim a gun steady at the start of Deus Ex.

I've just done the event you must have been referring to Renz, as at the end of it, I'm level 31.
Unfortunately, because I spent most of my time exploring and completing all of the quests I could before proceeding with the main story, I now have very little to do other than the main story. So there's nothing to really put my shiny new Mastercrafted Cat gear through its paces (unless I can really bear hoovering up Smuggler's Caches in Skellige).
I keep hoping that a new round of contracts and other notice board quests might pop up, but so far, nothing.
I'll just have to get on with that main quest then.
The few things that I'd left alone until I was more level appropriate are almost exhausted, and I've noticed that the loot rewards for these must be assigned when you first encounter the event. For example, I ran in to the "Missing Brother" quest incredibly early in the game. I killed the boss last night at level 31 and got a pair of level 2 pants off of it.
Bah.
Still, when the worst thing I can say about a game is that it's entertained me for hours, yet at the end I still want more, well, that's not bad at all really, is it?
For those of you who are still absorbing this game, some (mostly) nautical tips:
When Sirens surface and attach to the side of your boat, firing your crossbow with a tap auto-targets them and is a one-hit kit.
Similarly, while swimming don't aim the crossbow. Just tap fire and you'll auto-target the nearest enemy.
In fact, with the crossbow in general, there's not much point aiming (Geralt's auto-aim when you tap the button is far better and quicker than your manual aim), and little need for specialist ammo beyond the infinite basic kind. The split bolt is the best of the others, as due to its shotgun-like action, it has a greater chance of hitting an enemy circling above. But never regard the crossbow as a primary weapon (unless at sea). All you should be using it for is getting airborne enemies out of the sky so you can twat them around on the ground.
If you're out in the middle of the ocean (in a boat) and want to get back to civilisation quickly, bring up the world map and click on an anchor to fast-travel there.
For easier swimming when using a pad, use the right stick to control your view. When swimming forward using forward on the left stick or A, Geralt will swim in the direction he's pointing. This avoids the awkwardness of trying to use the dive or surface buttons and will completely eliminate the pointless somersault animation you get when transitioning from dive to forward.

I didn't go quite as hardcore about quest completion as you did, Malf, but I was close. By the time I finished the game, I had about 4-5 secondary quests, most of which were fist fights and Gwent games, and about as many Witcher contacts waiting for me. I could probably run through the whole set in a couple three hours.
The good news for you is that, if you're just past the point I think you are, you've still got a substantial set of story left, including a side quest or two that branch off of it. You're far from being left without anything to do.
