Graham: It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something.Well, it wasn't
that dramatic.
On another note, since no one took the damn hint, here's some damn screenshots for you damn people.

OK, I've recently been disappointed with Dragon Age: Inquisition. I kind of wanted to like the game, but after the honeymoon period was over, I realized just how hollow that game was, with almost no substantial quests in its open spaces. So, I was qite honestly afraid of how Wild Hunt would turn out.
But the Witcher 3 is good. I mean, really good. I know, I'm probably biased being Polish and a fan of Sapkowski's books, but so far, this is above both TW1 and TW2, which were good games in their own right. Unlike Inquisition, this is a living, breathing world, with real, painfully true to life characters and stories, in which I'm frequently torn by the decisions I have to make. Not because of available loot or of morality systems, but just because I'm wondering what the right choice is.
Comes recommended, whether you're a fan of the previous installments or not.

Whenever I want to know if a game is good-looking or not, I always check jim2point0's screenshots. He turned screenshots into an art-form.

Why the *cough* ? Did I say something stupid ?
There's a small community of people who try to make the best screenshots. I know very little about it. But I do check for screenshots once in a while. Jim2point0 is active on deadendthrills.com too. So is someone called KPutt (it happens to be that I'm using his SweetFX presets for TW3 and GTAV). So it seems a small world.
I'm usually very slow when playing games. So I need all my time to finish them. I certainly don't have time to try and make screenshots like those. :) Maybe in a week or two, if I get a new videocard. (GTX980Ti should be out RealSoonNow(tm)).

NUH! GET BACK IN HERE GAHDAMNIT! NAO!
You know what's tragic? We're all playing, like, the purdiest game EVAR, and there's nary a screenshot to be found anywhere in this thread.
I asked earlier but still haven't figured out how to actually take screenshots. There is a screenshot folder so there has to be a way dammit

Same here (plus a fan of Sapkowski too). It really feels that each NPC and sidequest has a realy story behind it. Sure, you only learn 10% of that story when you interact with them, but merely feeling there is one is enough to create a more believable and engaging experience. I hear people criticis it for not being Skyrim, and thank god for that. As much shit as there is in Skyrim, all the NPCs and quests feel shallow and generic as hell.
However, while the side stuff is great, does anyone else feel that
there isn't any real incentive to follow the main story? You start off chasing after a woman you've never met because PLOT, and now that I left the first area my new job is to
follow an order of the evil invader king who is just a total dick to Geralt. Umm, why do I want to do that exactly? And I'm supposed to care about some little girl I only met via a brief 10 minute tutorial?
The only reason I know or care about Yen/Ciri is because I read the books, so I'm curious what others who didn't read them think.

Yak, as far as I know, there isn't a screenshot button ingame. I just use Fraps.
As for your one complaint, the game does a great job of building up Ciri with the playable flashbacks, and all the stories people tell about her. You get a good dose of her character, and why everyone else seems to care about her, both for personal and political reasons.

Greatly enjoying the side-quests, they're all well written so far.
Only real complaint so far is the responsiveness of movement, but I really don't think that they're gonna patch out the extra steps that Geralt takes when you come to a stop (which is a shame). If you tried this shit with a precision platformer then your game would be crucified in reviews.
Well optimised game (v1.03 at least). I'm at 1080p resolution with most settings on Ultra and the game's running at a solid 30fps on my cheapo 750Ti. Definitely keen to bump that up to 60fps next month when I buy 970 with my tax refund.

Haven't you been on welfare for like a decade?

Edit: With GTAV and TW3 out, it might be worth spending money on a new upcoming gtx980Ti. Might give me triple the framerates of my old gtx680.

The swimming controls drive me absolutely insane. It takes so long to actually manoeuvre into position to go where you want that you're always likely to drown. And then some cheeky bloody loading screen goes on about the Killer Whale potion, which I have yet to find
That aside (and infuriating horse controls), it's insane how much there is in this game. I've spent the entire weekend in Velen, and yet every time I think I've done everything there, twenty more questions marks pop up on the map. And they all seem to show me something new!
I'm guessing the other maps won't be anywhere near as densely populated, but even so, the sheer amount of things to do in Velen puts most other RPGs to shame. And a huge amount of these things have more than one solution, with a lot of the choices being morally grey. On top of that, the villager banter fleshes out all these little stories wonderfully. For example, I already had a very good idea what the Trail of Treats was before I even started the quests relating to it. On top of that, you'll hear things like children going missing, or people behaving strangely wherever you go, and later on, you'll usually find a scene backing up all these overheard conversations. Even the fluff bulletin board messages turn out to have content backing them up in the game world.
In the main plot, I'm now being told to take a boat to Skellige, but I'm still only level 15, and when I look at the map of Velen, there are still hundreds of things I need to do there.
Glorious, outstanding game.
Technical aside: While the game still crashed after the 1.03 patch, there has since been a patch to GOG Galaxy too, and my playing experience has been almost perfect. One crash per day for Saturday and Sunday.
Bonus tip: Noonwraiths getting you down with their seeming indestructibility, even though you're the same level? Yrden is your friend!
