I can concur as no improvement here either. It does the same thing.

To the readers: we got some progress (in PM :D )

Yes I can confirm all was perfect for me on this last test. snobel is the boss. It hopefully won't be long before a public release now.

OK, here's (
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5xp8i552nqkdb9n/Setup_DX2VisibleUpgrade_1.2.0_alpha3.exe?dl=1) alpha3, fixing the issues reported by lowenz and Stingm. As an additional minor improvement the short intro movies are now shown uncropped.
lowenz just reported that it's using the inventory that'll bring back a hidden compass, so that's a known issue in this version. :)
The weird issues were caused by the Steam version (and the American retail version on which it's probably based) using a slightly different folder structure and file naming in some cases: Apparently the GOG and European retail versions have a different exe file with some of the locale awareness that's also found in Thief 3. As a result the patched game would look for video files containing language information in the filename. And loading screens, text and conversation files were expected to be inside a subfolder matching the locale - "English" in this case - which they were in two of those cases. But since the Steam exe doesn't know about locales that subfolder had been added in paths in Default.ini instead, confusing the non-Steam exe... No wonder things were weird. :D

Another week, (
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lsfajttb2fuxzym/Setup_DX2VisibleUpgrade_Full_1.2.0_alpha4.exe?dl=1) another alpha... Alpha4 is the first Full Edition, including a preview of the Unified Texture Pack (a.k.a. John P). There's no configurability yet, so what you get is everything except "Biomodified NPCs", with the default/original look for the mutually exclusive options.
A couple of screenshots for comparison:

Code:
[SaveOverrides]
; When this value is non-negative it will be used instead of the value stored in savegames. It must be edited here once
; (setting it to 50 is recommended) but after that it can be changed using the in-game option.
MouseSensitivity=-1
[Mods]
; The location for installed mods. Usually C:\ProgramData\Deus Ex 2 Visible Upgrade\Installed Mods.
InstallPath=C:\ProgramData\Deus Ex 2 Visible Upgrade\Installed Mods
; Semicolon separated list of installed mods. Relative paths are relative to the InstallPath value. Mods are listed in
; order of decreasing priority. To enable the John P preview, remove the semicolon at the start of this line:
;ModPaths=Unified Texture Pack
In both cases, edit as necessary to enable the features.
Also, the NoCompass tweak should now work reliably. Edit: Not quite... :rolleyes: For some reason the health bar is corrupted from the start of a new game until you pick up the first inventory item. It'll have to do for now, though.

See? It's a maddening curse :D

Question: ALL the content from John-P pack is present? Micro pack and others? 'cause some terrain textures seem a bit low res.
About the rest: it's all nicely working!
snobel on 18/12/2016 at 09:56
Sorry, I missed your last post. Yes, all the Community and Micro pack textures are / should be included. In a quick test it looks like they are loaded too. Maybe it's just that not all textures are covered by the pack, or that what was high-res back then is not as impressive at today's resolutions?
There's no terrain textures in the Micro pack, though?
If you can post a screenshot of a suspicious texture that stands out, then I can try to track it down.

That's not right - can you post your log file?
