It's tempting to go looking for old Xbox dev kits on Ebay, just in case there's one which comes with a 'bonus disc'. ;)

Any news?

I've been porting over the widescreen stuff. Apart from one nasty surprise it's been going well. Here's a (
https://www.dropbox.com/s/depkdisaixy2ca5/dx2-vu_alpha-wide.mp4?dl=1) short video playing in a very wide window. As for T3, loading screens are shown at the original 4:3 aspect (by default) and the letterboxed movies are allowed to crop to 16:9 aspect (by default).
There's still some stuff to adjust - you can probably tell that the HUD is a bit too small, but that should be easy to correct. Hopefully there will be an alpha out fairly soon...

Thanks! What is the nasty surprise? :D

Looking good, snobel! :thumb:
I enjoyed the Sneaky Upgrade for TDS, and I've been meaning to replay DXIW on PC (only played the XBox version back then), so I'm very much looking forward to this. :)

The in-game Resolution setting originally had five settings. To expand that so that all modes are supported, in T3 it came down to a single instruction - which was hard to find, so I'd hoped it was the same here. No such luck... In this game you have to change several values, and they're buried in triggerscripts in one of the .ibd files. :eww:

Good to know. I'd be grateful if you'd give the first release a spin.

Sure, I'll give it a go. :)

News?

Most of the items from the first post are done. Still to-do:
* Partial widescreen support. I'm going to play through some of the first levels in order to track down more things which need adjusting
* A 'no compass' tweak
* John P's textures, which will not be in the first release
There are other changes which are already in, such as the progress bar fix to speed up loading. (It has an even greater effect here than in T3, it seems.)
I also have to make a rudimentary installer so the first (alpha) release is probably a couple of weeks away.
Edit: Does DX2 suffer from the same animation issues at high frame rates as T3? If so, is it the same limit you need to impose?

Good question, but there are no minigames in DXIW :p
