"Well I'd call that the ultimate bridge to nowhere!"
Biden has some zingers in his cuff, no doubt.

IN CASE ANYONE MISSED IT, SARAH PALIN'S FROM AN ENERGY PRODUCING STATE

I think that was quite encouraging. The BBC are being very kind in their brief post mortem, but I reckon you have to remember that this is for Vice President, perhaps President. If you need kind you're probably not the best pick.

Not a bad performance for either, but Palin never zinged Biden nearly as deftly as he did her with that "bridge to nowhere" comment.
I think she (Palin) certainly did well enough to leave behind much of the baggage from the various interview gaffes though I doubt that matters much for those outside of the choir.
IMO Biden seemed to have had more command over the debate while Palin came out as far more likable.

Yeah, relatively good show on both parts.
Not that this will cost her any political points, but when Palin attributed "City on a Hill" to Ronald Reagan I did a double take.

Bah! Reagan, Winthrop...what's the difference? :joke:

It'd be interesting to see what the reaction from conservatives are, but I think she did pretty badly. She struggled with sentences, got flustered, answered completely the wrong question at one point, obviously repeated stuff verbatim, presented weak arguments and generally failed to put down the weight and substance to back up her punches. She shouldn't have been there.
Biden was really very good; next to faultless.

You win. She just said that's what she's going to do. :erg:
Palin actually went more into the topics than I had anticipated. But still, on a number of questions she totally ignored the question. Especially in the last 15-20 minutes she did what I had expected more. She talked about her family, how she's just like the average American, and how positive the future will be.
A difference I noticed is how Biden used words like "people, voters, middle-class, parents, etc". While Palin always talks about "Americans, the American people, blahblah everywhere in America". A lot more nationalistic.
For me the crux of the debate was getting to know Biden. I've read a lot about Obama, McCain and Palin. But Biden hasn't had much media attention. I didn't know much about him.
I really liked the guy, his points, and the way he debated. To me (an outsider), he seemed a better choice for President than the other 3 people involved.

Same here. The whole time I was thinking, "This guy ran for president twice? Where the hell was I?" I'd vote for Obama just so Bidden could get the white house in 8 years I liked him so much tonight.

So we all agree? Biden for president.
