She's an idiot, yet it seems that she's capable of putting her charisma to work. Personally, I think who will end up making or breaking the debate tomorrow is not the candidates themselves but the moderator. The RNC is already questioning her impartiality in the hopes that any poor performance on Palin's part may be blamed on the moderator's potential favoritism. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if this debate draws as big an audience, if not bigger, as the first presidential debate.

Also I wonder what on earth conservatives are going to do about her belief that there is an inherent right to privacy in the constitution.

A democrat guy from Alaska claims she believes dinosaurs and people lived together 4,000 years ago.
Hard to know if it´s true or just a lame attack at her but she has supported creationism in schools anyway.

I'm still don't believe it.
Especially since
any lawmaker who cares one way or another about abortion should be very very familiar with Planned Parenthood v. Casey, because that case (and NOT Roe) gave us the basic rule courts currently
actually use to evaluate abortion laws.
And conservatives interested in the judicial branch should be very aware of Casey anyways, because it was kind of a big deal, given that two Reagan appointees (O'Connor, Kennedy) and one Bush appointee (Souter) utterly failed to do what they were "supposed to" (ie: strike down Roe completely) and that is exactly why we can't have a supreme court nomination without having to hear hours of BUT WHAT WILL THEY DO ABOUT ROE v WADE
I mean if you're a conservative voter who is concerned about these things you should be horrified at how ignorant Palin is.
Edit: And if you're a conservative who doesn't care about abortion, you should be horrified that she couldn't name, for example, Kelo or Raich or any of those cases that should be near and dear (well, more like cursed and hated) by anyone with a libertarian lean.
And if you're ANYONE you should be horrified that she couldn't even whip out Dred Scott, which is a no-brainer for any politician from any party to disagree with and which is taught in high school.
It'll be interesting to see whether the canned answers she's been learning are enough to get her through the debate because I think it's pretty clear that she just doesn't have the knowledge to answer questions on the fly, but at the same time the debate questions should be predictable enough for her to prepare.

The debate is televised in the UK at 0200 (0100 GMT) tonight on BBC News. Guess I'll see if I'm awake for it!

Between Palin's balking and Biden's penchant for embellishment this ought to be a night not to remember.
That said, Palin will likely do better than expected, not that the bar is set that high to begin with.

If Ifill actually manages to pull it off then more power to her, but her apparent impartiality
should be in question. In fact, impartiality should be in question for any potential moderator.
Ideally before the decision is made..In this case suspicion isn't exactly far-fetched since Ifill (or the producers) failed to fully disclose her book supporting Obama which releases the same day as the debates. Not to mention that she has allready drawn widespread complaints due to her (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zafLsAtp_Q) obvious and unhinged reactions after Palin's initial speech (while serving as a reporter mind you, not an editorialist).
Ifill was a poor choice by any measure, and for obvious reasons
both camps would have benefited from a less questionable moderator.
Also, the first debate drew lackluster ratings. This debate is expected to do even worse. A lot of people are becoming somewhat burned out from this particularly long campaign.

Are you kidding? This will be the best entertainment I've had for a long time.
I'm SOOOOOO glad I've been born again as a liberal.

That's what is kind of sad about our political atmosphere, it has largely become a sort of stagnant entertainment depending on our basest reactions rather than any particular inspiration or continued pursuit. Obviously some politicians are inspiring, but the political atmosphere in general is far from it IMO.
We all love a trainwreck of course, but these are our leaders here you know?
