The problem is: how many people will actually research her? I'm afraid the answer is not that many.
If that is indeed the case, it is up to the Obama campaign (or a 3rd party) to spread the word on such issues. Granted the information is all over the web, but like a lot of things, some people will just never see it if it isn't on Hannity.
Problem with that is they then play the Personal Attacks card (which encompass any form of conversation on policy it seems). If Obama attempts to do this, it could hurt him, which is ironic as hell given Palin's own statements on running for office as a woman just before being offered the VP spot.
Also, I'm much more terrified now after seeing the Charlie Gibson interview (or a part of it). She really scares me a lot more than McCain does. For all McCain's oldness and potential craziness, I'm not really THAT afraid of what he would do, its more of an ideological difference. Palin seems like a loose (olol fuck you thats not what I mean) cannon. Hopefully, should they get in and McCain die, she will have enough handlers to keep things at least within reason (not worse than GWB, which has set the bar pretty low).

When Palin was mayor she forced rape victims in her town to pay for their own rape kits. This is the rough equivalent of forcing the survivors of a murder victim to pay for any forensics evidence collection or tests. And never mind that there is already a serious and enduring problem of rapes being under-reported.
Why would she hire a police chief who was against the practice of rape victims paying for their tests?
I hope this has more legs than the book banning story.
Where is this woman she supposedly fired for not banning books?I'm sure the 30 lawyers the dems have in Alaska would have dredged her up by now.
And a lot of the books were not published until after she left the mayors
office.

You'd almost think that if there was really so much dirt on Palin, the investigators wouldn't be forced to resort to so much cherry picking. Snopes has never seen so much traffic FFS.
I can only speculate that this is an attempt at character assasination, rather than a focus on her actual shortcomings since so far, the interviews with Gibson have been nothing short of disastrous IMO, yet I still only hear about these occurrences that can't
really be placed squarely at Palin's doorstep.
Why not focus on something that will stand up to the light of day FFS? Is the press really this incompetent or are they just desperate?
Did anyone else notice how emotional Palin got as she fumbled for answers that she should have known would be asked? The "You can see Russia from here.." quip in response to the line of questioning regarding foreign policy was particularly gasp worthy,
even in context.
Edit : In the end I think she will sharpen up, and I expect she will do well in the debates. Maybe that's why some are scrambling for something with teeth. Only time will tell if they will find it or not.

heretic here to let us know that positions on censorship and treatment of rape victims aren't important things to know about politicians

The librarian firing story is not in question and the police chief was arguing against the law that the Alaskan legislature passed that banned Palin's practice.
I'm currently withholding insults in order to let you redeem yourself.

On the contrary, it's very important. It's therefore also important to place the blame equally on all those involved, not just on one participant who's role appears to have been one of sheer complacency. This budgeting problem is not unique to Palin's jurisdiction, and Biden's bill regarding this issue was responded to similarly across party lines.
Don't put words in my mouth, you're better than that.

Sorry, but when you say it seems like an attempt at character assassination and not a focus on issues it looks like you don't think this sort of thing is relevant to voters.
I tried to clarify my point when I first posted the link: it's not that charging for rape kits is a big wow omg SHES NOT FIT TO GOVERN thing, it's that I think that as we find out more about her positions on things the smaller and smaller her impact on the female vote will be.

There is nothing to disagree with there, but recent polls suggest that Jane has already made up her mind, deciding to choose the team with the attractive all-American nuclear family*, and history suggests that her attention span for criticisms about her home-team are for shit.

Well, the point is that the book banning story is starting to look like a fabrication (or at least a big exaggeration), which casts doubt on the rest of the Kilkenny email.
Regarding the rape kit issue, if it's true as originally presented, I'll be horrified. But already I've seen a quote from the police chief saying that they were attempting to get the victim's health insurance company to pay the bill if possible. To me, that raises the question of whether any rape victims ever paid out of pocket. If so, the Obama campaign should be pushing the issue. If not, this is just more mudslinging.
I can't vote for her either way, but I'd still hate to see her swift boated.
Starrfall on 13/9/2008 at 01:39
They shouldn't have been making the insurance companies pay either, but again it's more the effect that it will have on female voters. Which, despite current polls and references to "Jody" (I don't know what that's supposed to refer to? sorry I don't talk blogspeak or whatever it is) is probably going to happen. Unless McCain supporters think that Sarah Palin will magically avoid the effect we've seen in independent women voters who turn away from McCain in great numbers once they learn that he wants Roe v. Wade overturned, for example.
And if that is what McCain supporters are thinking, then I disagree!
Well you still haven't proved any point and you still look dumb because the article you posted has nothing to do with what I'm referring to. The word "resign" does not appear in that article btw, unless find is broken. I'm certainly not making claims that any books were actually banned and never referred to any lists. Congratulations, your bias has turned you into an incoherent blithering mess. As such what you think regarding my maturity level is currently irrelevant to me. :)
If you just misunderstood what I was talking about then I honestly apologize and gently suggest that perhaps maybe next time you should take more care to be sure that what you post is actually relevant to what I post, or that you ask for clarification.
