Contrary to what people may believe, there is a difference between candidates.
The video points this out quite succinctly I think.

This is always bizarre to me. The possibility of helping people being the end of civilisation as we know it.
Maybe because all this 'helping' has to be paid for by people who are actually being productive?
The fraction of the ~40% of my paycheck that the government (state and federal) takes that actually goes to helping people in real need is so small as to be ridiculous. Most of it goes to "general welfare", like bombs and programs not directly targeted at the poor (social security, medicare).
If we just wrote out checks to the disadvantaged for the amount of taxes that people pay, every homeless person that I see on my drive to work everyday would have a two-story house with a three-car garage.

It's not a great choice, but it's better than LBJ v Goldwater
I'll take Goldwater over pretty much every option we've had for the past 70 years please.

With birthrates hovering at 1.5 children per woman or lower (replacement level is at least 2.1),
For info, they made a big fuss on French media last week because they just passed 2.0 there.

How about we do more to help unproductive people be productive? First class education and healthcare for all. Two birds killed with one stone there.

You can lead a horse to water... Apparently you've never seen a drug addict live blissfully in squalor?

You know that not all the people who are currently unproductive are drug addicts, right? Or lazy people who won't be productive, no matter what? To use your metaphor, it sounds like you're advocating not leading the horse to water at all because some horses won't drink. What's better: leading the horses to water and having 50%, 60%, 70% drink, or giving up on those horses altogether?
Yes, it's possible to remove all incentive to be productive, which is utterly counter-productive - but people who are already in a hole for whatever reason are more likely to find out of that hole if they're given a boost of some sort.

@OP
The "They're all crooks!" argument usually comes from someone too stupid or lazy to make a decent argument.
You can think whatever you like, but if you think Obama is to blame for the current tone of the election, you've not been paying attention. I'm not going to defend every action they make, and I don't think I have to, but if anyone is too dense to judge it for themselves probably should do us a favor and not vote.
I don't even care who people vote for, one ideology beats the other and that's just the way it works. At least be honest about it.
Obama has at least made an effort to take a stance on issues using actual ideas and plans (however naive or unrealistic). McCain has a few bullet points on healthcare that basically summarize as "yeah healthcare sucks" and Obama has a 40 page PDF on what he wants to do that cites statistics and specific goals (whether you believe them or not).
McCain still supports offshore drilling, when even the administration has admitted its fucking useless. It sounds good so he's going to try to get elected by it, which is tantamount to lying to me. He wants to get elected on falsehoods and people who hate/are afraid of niggers. Don't believe me? Go to west virginia and ask some hicks what they think. Its not about what people will do, its about what they wont do. Wont take their guns, won't fuck their fat sister.
As far as I'm concerned, we know what McCain is going to be, and as current polls show, only 30% are for that. That 30% is probably the section of the populace that would think Wrasl'n (as opposed to wrestling) is good sport and we disposed Osama when we invaded iraq.
If someone is a such a cynical spiteful fuck to not even want to give Obama a chance in the slightest, you should probably go yell at the kids on you're lawn or return that over-ripe piece of fruit the grocery store and give those of us who still have part of a soul the chance to have some hope (even if it gets dashed). If you expect 100% efficiency and a free handjob with you're government you should think about succeeding (and hopefully you are in south carolina).

I cant claim to know anything about you, but the only people who I've ever heard say this personally have been upper middle-class white people who've never really had to struggle in their lives. Maybe that isn't you, just saying. There are a lot of uptight self-rightous fucks out there who would take 100% of the credit for being born into a moderatly (or very) wealthy home and would lay 100% of the blame at the feet of those who were not. These are the same delusional people who believe 100% in free will. Also all statistics support drug treatment as being more effective than drug enforcement, so basically you are just being an uptight prick who would rather pay more to have cops busting heads than to actually fight the problem.
If england could implement universal healthcare after WW2 then the richest nation in the world can fucking do
something. You'd think the nationalist cocksuckers out there would hate playing 30-somthingth fiddle to the europeans, I thought we were better than everyone else? They can do what we cant?
