OK.
... To get the ring, you'll have to get in the Yangus Estate. A man walking around in the city had a journal on him. It has a clue on how to get in there.A couple of questions:
When does this
man start walking around the city? At the beginning of the mission or after you are given the goal "don't confront the guards"? I've blackjacked a lot of people,
I don't know if I blackjacked him - I've looked through all the civilian bodies I've stashed about and so far, haven't found a journal. I assume reading the journal will make the bell frobbable so I can get into the estate. On a different topic, I've
wandered around the fire caves - where is the actual gem plaque in these caves? I haven't found it. I've climbed to the high area, flipped the two switches, went to the other side of the ropes, flipped the switch reached from there quickly and made it back before the spinning disk I had to cross blew up, and made it to the sparkling torch behind it's stone thing and flipped the hidden switch there - but haven't found the gem plaque. (If I really shouldn't enter these caves until I get the other three gem plaques, that's fine - I have a save before I enter the tilted estate.)Thanks in advance! (I've
inflicted the zombies on the mechanists so I could give the pagan his juice and found the green gem plaque, but that's it in terms of advancing the plot thus far.)

Thank you for the hint.
After blindly frobbing the pedestals for a few hundred times I accidentally found the sweet spots inside, about a foot above the plate :) A visual indication would have been useful...Heading for Mission 2 now.
ahh - yes, thanks, that's obviously the way you're supposed to do it
attaching the plaques to the right pedestal in the right spot (been having problems with my sound card and never heard the "sweet spots" the first time)
gnartsch - the hidden switch should have
lowered a ladder and a couple more vines further back where you've been
prjames - (i) you need to get into the
estate first, where he is, by hitting the
bell to distract the guards outside(ii) the
red plaque is in the caves at
the end of the floating rock path

and yes i also agree yengis place should not be accessible until you get the basso objective.that would fix problem

Thanks !
I found the place where to place the
plaques, but have not found all of them yet.
Now, I am actually still missing the
red one. I can see where it is, but I blew up most of the
rocks floating on the lava earlier already.
I could still get to it and grab it, but then I am trapped and waiting for death.
Am I missing a secret exit here - or a switch or something?
And a bug: you can blind-frob the switch in the room where the
portal will appear, before having collected and placed all the
plaques.

also people having problem with ring i figured it out
you need to get objective before going to yengis place, otherwise the cutscene between yengis and guard dont happen,i replayed on easyest setting and entire mission was perfect,so get all objectives before doing them before handI finally realized
I only need to hit the bell, not frob the bell and was able to enter
Yengis place. I do have the objective
to find a gift for Basso, which I got before I approached Yengis place. However, I've
explored all the rooms, blackjacked all the guards, got the purple gem plaque in his study room but
no sign of a ring or Yengis, or any cut scene. What am I doing wrong?

I think it had been mentioned already.
You have to discover ALL the hidden objectives. IIRC, that involves the ring, the necklace, the zombie bait+pagan juice and the objective that comes after reading Gert's journal. However, when I played through and encountered Yangus and the conversation took place, I had not found the objective that comes from reading Gert's journal.
Key and lock mismatch?
Having replayed Mission 1 - it is worth replaying and concentrating on the details! - I have a "Walkway key" I could never use, and a locked gate just outside Yangus' place (high above the ladder) I cannot open. Unfortunately these two don't match... . I guess they might be both related to missed secrets and/or missing loot , so I'd be grateful for any suggestion.

Thanks.
I've actually found the
necklace but I can't frob it because I haven't been given the necklace objective. Where do I go or what do I do to
get the necklace objective?- prjames
