The Ultimate Rock Song would have to have at LEAST two guitar solos!
Or just one but with (at least) two guitars in harmony. And it should probably have a vocal range of 4+ octaves. And some female backing vocals. And maybe a horn section/full orchestra.

it shouldn't be THAT hard to get a text-to-speech program that a) sounded good and b) could be tuned on a per-syllable basis... effectively allowing it to sing.

Also, you're a way better lyricist than I am :(

SIGNED CURTAIN
Words and Music
by Robert Wyatt
This is the first verse
This is the first verse
This is the first verse
This is the first verse...
And this is the chorus
Or perhaps it's a bridge
Or just another part
of the song that I'm singing
This is the second verse
Or it may the last verse
This is the second verse
Or it may the last one
And this is the chorus
Or perhaps it's a bridge
Or just another key change
Never mind
It doesn't hurt
It only means that I
lost faith in this song
'Cause it won't help me reach you...

Analyse frequency of content from individual word appearance to often-used-phrases. Look at average song structures, tempos, durations, instrumentation. Peel it all apart, choose the most representative things about the Rock Genre as an entity, and then stitch it all back up.
I wonder what would come back once the computers had finished with it?
:D
Er, something by Jimi IMO:laff:

So much of it reminds me of driving into a subdivision you can't find your way out of because all the houses are the same. There is too much formulaic structure, too little that stands out.
Exactly what "MFS" is trying to avoid, check out (
www.manualforstreets.org) (as a highways planner its my duty to inform people of such things, if lost in the void of mediocre modern city scape).... but then thats
way off topic.
The ultimate rock song would have 8000 beats per minute, banging bass, and perhaps a euphoric vocal interlude:thumb: .
Oh wait thats something else... whats "rock" again?

a genre of music based on the rythm and blues of the 40's and early 50's and then adopted by white American audiences.

20 years of listening to rock has taught me that the main raison d'etre of what is known as "cock rock" in common vernacular is watching a woman do something that the singer finds agreeable or stimulating. The exact terms vary widely, but very common is;
"Girl when you shake that thing"
"When you move woman"
"When you're walkin' down the street"
"Showing what you got"
"Dancin' down at the scene"
These acts in turn promote the following phrases such as;
"Oh you drive me crazy"
"I just can't handle it"
"I want to see you shine"
"I want to shake your tree"
"Honey you're so hot"
