I have given the goblin king a cake 'poisoned' with wine, so he went into another room. How do I now find the lost idol? I have tried to open the chest in the Kings room with a key I found under a pillow, but it doesn't work! (A German walkthrough told me to do so).

When you are entering the goblin castle through the porticullis, there is a room on the right with a goblin lord guarding a locked room. After you talk with the goblin king, the guard will let you in that room when you talk with him. The chest you seek is in that locked room.

[SPOILER]I can't remember the name of the guy but its the headmaster or quartermaster guy's bedroom. As you enter the castle head towards the kitchen but make a right when you get there. You'll find an area of bunkbeds and a goblin that has to run to the toilet. Go past the toilet and you'll find this quartermaster's room.[/SPOILER]

I am also having some difficulty finding the Trolls' lost idol. Maybe I'm a little slow-witted or something, but what "goblin castle" are you message boraders referring to? I'm trying to find the idol, but I'm not even sure where to go to begin looking. Where is this goblin castle? How do I find it? It's not the location at the beginning of the game where you find yourself imprisoned, is it?
Please, somebody let me know so that I can stop dwelling on my ineptitude! lol. A spoiler would be GREATLY appreciated where this matter is concerned.
I'm a bit of a hasty gamer (as my gaming time is scarce) and don't have much time to backtrack and examine the situation myself, so please - give me a clue, because I'll be back to Arx this coming weekend.

P.S: Arx Fatalis ROCKS... I haven't played a game this fantastic since the original THIEF. Where did it COME from? I hadn't even heard of it until this week when I took a chance and picked it up at the store! I bloody love it... Too bad I'm stuck. :)

The Goblin castle is directly across from the Troll mines. You need to get the Goblin foreman to open the gate for you once you have talked to the Troll king Pog.
