Had something odd happen on my latest run through SS2 (on Impossible, finally). I dropped the One True Basketball by Athletics to free up an inventory slot, went off to another bulkhead, and when I came back it was gone. Well grr, just another llittle SS2 savegame bug, so I wrote it off and pressed on. Several hours later, revisiting my item cache in the Hydroponics lobby, I spotted something on the floor down the hall to the left. Wandered down to check out and... yep... the basketball had returned!
So now I've got a mental image of this sentient, nanite-powered basketball sneaking off the moment I turn my back on it, roaming the air vents of the Von Braun, maybe causing a little mischief, then finally getting lonely and hiding down the hallway from a room it knows I frequently visit, hoping to catch a glimpse of the man who carried him with him through three years of training and 42 million miles from Earth.
Eh, it's just a theory. ;)

Well, after all you have taken the basketball home when no-one else liked her anymore... :p
Seriously, some interesting effect happen if an object gets dropped too close to a gateway to another section.

Yeah, but the door to Athletics is far away from any bulkheads or elevators.
Maybe it's because the Basketball is the only object in the game that bounces. :)

Maybe some bored Rumblers took a break for a quick game? That's a game i'd like to see...
Just a suggestion... ;)

Nah, it's those fussy protocol droids.
'Oh, my!! That shouldn't be just left lying around!! Someone might get hurt!! *sigh* People are so irresponsible these days!!'

Yikes... a basketball with a mind all it's own...
We must check... the X-Files.

Boy I love weekends, chatting on the boards with the likes of you guys. Sure beats work! :D

Anyone here watch Malcom in the Middle? Maybe the basketball has a hamster inside...

Just don't tell the animal rights people we're throwing them through hoops, then.
'You can't do that!'
'Sure we can. Just go and talk to the protocol droid over there. He'll explain it all to you...' :ebil:

Animal Rights can be cast down onto Tau Ceti V for all I care. It's pathetic and pointless. In fact I believe the mutants and hybrids from Shock 1 & 2 are more intelligent than Animal Rights activists.
