I want to place the logs in level 2 while I am mapping, can you add a way to seperate a group of logs by whatever group, like in the trigger_pda_addfile, have a specific "pdagroup" sort that log into whatever group is specified?
As far as I know, they are always separated by levels, so how about a property in worldspawn? Another question: if you are in the science level, can you read the logs you received in medical, like in SS2?

Sure, if you can make that work, that would be fine.

I never played SS2 (well, I played the demo...), but yeah, you can. Have you seen the multi-reader gui for the game? It has it set up where you click on either Email, Logs or Data, but in logs, it sorts the logs by level name. (Level R, Level 1, etc ...)

Whoever tried to connect my FTP server about 45 minutes ago: the account doesn't require a password, however your client will ask for it. Either type anything, or just click "OK", the FTP server will let you in.

MegaBrutal, I have an idea on how to impliment the name scheme we talked about erlier. How about when the game starts, a box comes up, asking for the user name, then your PDA interface can replace all text strings of $n with the name given in the dialogue box? Player's name would work well with this, and everytime I switch levels, the name automatically switches back to MegaBrutal anyways, so it seems befitting that you should be able to modify that part of the code to be whatever name is put in the box, and the PDA being able to use the name in the logs. What do you think?

Or the player names is defined in the multiplayer setup, where general player specifc info is kept. Standard halflife stuff.
While I will admit I didn't know that the name can be controlled through the multiplayer settings (here I am trying to disable multiplayer until I am ready to impliment it), I still think that for completion, the ability to specify a name using some kind of input box would make the mod feel more complete, rather than having to go to some unused multiplater part of the main menu, just to change the name. I don't mind being wrong, but if the players don't mind taking this extra step to give themselves a name, then I won't mind either, I guess it's up the the fans ... Don't think I am being sarcastic, I know how that sounds, I was just trying to make some idea that helps the game feel more enguaging, that's all.

One quick question, does it work with Steam ? Because i don't really wanna install my HL1 standalone version right now.
/edit:
Ah nevermind, got it working now. Looks great so far. But to be sure (because obviously i am not), all you can do right now, is run around on the medical level, right ?
I also would like to offer my help to this project. It may not be such a big help, but i would like to help you guys with testing the stuff you create. Well, my qualifications are simple. I love SS1, i played Half-Life, and played Counter-Strike for the last 7 years (so i'm pretty familiar with the engine). I also made maps with the worldcraft/hammer editor, but that was a long time ago.
So anyways, like i said, if i can, i will gladly help. I'm pretty perfectionistic when it comes to finding bugs and glitches. I don't know if you noticed or if it is my fault here, but if you enter that little room right at the start, where you normally pick up the pipe, if you go in there and turn around, the game has some graphical glitch on one wall.
Everything looks great so far, i really hope this project will make it to the end.

I am aware of every glitch on the levels, and I am dilligantly working to fix them. In the starting room has 2 glitches. The first is, the door had to be a poly, so the door and its structure is a micropoly, which causes the door to be seen when from a distance, in its open state. Also, I am assuming this is a micropoly issue as well, when you open the closet door, walk in, turn around, and you will get some HOM effect when the medical cabinets are. Another probably-micropoly-caused issue that I am trying to fix, but am also wanting to progress onto other things, instead of wasting time on one spot. When I figure out how to fix it, then I will :)

Update:
(
http://anyon.no-ip.org/Half-Shock/HL1/Half-Shock%20-%2009-16-2007.zip)
I had another hard drive crash. This was a throw together of my backup and latest map build. Run "hazard course" and tell me what you think of some of the items I made .. I also put some on Level 1 to get an idea of them in play.
MegaBrutal: I am using an older copy of the original DLL set, but I wanted to also release a Steam version, I can't download the ones off the links that are here, the links are broken. If you wouldn't mind linking me to your latest build, so I can release a steam archive as well?

Hi!
Now, that I see the development is running again, I wouldn't like to set is back. I should really take some time to finish my DLL update I'm working on since August. I'll see what can I do at the weekend. I'm sorry though, that I can't spend much time on the project nowadays. (The school has just started...)
Meanwhile, take a look at this:
(
http://megabrutal.ondaem.net/docs/savech) http://megabrutal.ondaem.net/docs/savech
(I hope the server will be alive when you try to visit it, sometimes it's down nowadays.)
I was developing this as an add-on to the mod, among other things, this caused my late. You can add "Map Description" (message keyvalue) for the worldspawn entity, it will be shown as the chapter title of the saves made on your maps, with my updated DLL. ;)
Hard drive crash? :( Fortunately I haven't had to live through that kind of thing in my life, but I knock down on it. I would be really shocked, if something happened with my hard drive. All works of my whole life are stored on it, although I made a backup on my pendrive of the most important stuffs, because my machine seems to be dying. (It's 5 years old...)
Greetings,
MegaBrutal
