And of course, when I went to experiment, I discovered that their are 2 different copies of Half-Life:
Half-Life 1
and
Half-Life 1 :Source
HL1:S is a recreation on the Half-Life 2 game, with a different layout. (i found it funny when it runs off hl2.exe, so i think its the recreation, and I got stuck in an elevator, the game wouldnt proceed :( )
Basically, with the multiple different versions, I would have to figure out if it can be directly ported to Source version like the HL2 export was or not, and if so, then it will support high-res textures, I might be able to use all of JukkaKevAt's high-res textures on this as well, so that way its not grainy. (Stupid HL1's 256 color pallet!)
Hmm, this could be a while longer before the next release, cause ive reached the limit of my second set of compile tools. I am going to limit myself on light controled switches to what shock already has, some broken, and whatnot. I won't have a choice, unless I break the level up in portions, which might be hard cause most of the halls that can be efficiently used for levels have different halls to the same point .. regardless, I will have to decide what to do here on Thursday, since Im writing this before I go to work...

HL1:S is barely a recreation, isn't it the same levels and textures but with the Source lighting system and better particle effects?

there is a difference thou. Technicly, the levels are in HL2 format, therefore the levels themselves are visually the same, the way they are made is very different from how a standard HL1 map is made. That is where the difference lies is with the map structure. If you ever mapped for HL1, use VMEX to decompile a HL2 map and compair it with Hammer to a standard HL1 map. ITs very different.

Im in works of working around what is done to prep it for the next release, as well as a selectable menu from within Half-Life, to make it easier to select and play the game, without the total need of a batch file. Also, I added a pole, I just want to know where people stand of adding al the secret rooms? Technically, it is part of the level structure, but its also an unneeded spoiler, not that everyone here don't already know where all the secrets are :)

lol poll

Definitely put the secrets in, just hide them before releasing a playable version. :p

Who the hell voted no?
*coughKODANcough*....lazy bastard
Bjossi on 24/4/2007 at 21:51
It's ironic that he wrote 'definitely' incorrectly.

I didnt spell it right, lol just another one of my "out the door to work" updates, sorry about that. BTW I didn't vote, someone else did ...
Oh and I am pretty sure that I mis-spelled more than 'definately' wrong, i need to stop being so bloody lazy, I guess. Anyways I have no beef with mapping the secrets, so it just depends on what the lot says :p
