Im actually tearing into the 2 sets of image packs at the moment to see how I they would look if I incorporate them into HL2. I figure ive been doing non-stop mapping (most of my issues revolve around texture allignment, and modifying the original textures until they fit right) so its about time I treat myself to some new material for a bit until I get myself back to mapping.

soo, did you decide to do it on HL2 engine or HL1 engine?
I see your leaning towards hl2.. i hope.
btw, hl2 at 12 fps.

Thats not even fully modded though. I cant find the 20 screenshot, but it looks alot worse, and runs alot better.

I feel sorry for you guys, I'm having difficulties getting lower than 100 FPS average on almost as max settings as I can go. (max, 1024 x 768, 4xAA/16xAF).

I'm kind of lucky that my 15" LCD has a max res of 1024 x 768, that way I get away with saying that I get great performance on max settings. :p
Plus I'm not (extremely) spoiled since I have never seen 1600 x 1200 in action before.

Im mapping for both Half Life games. Technically I am mapping for HL1 and in an ironic twist, I cant see textures on my editor for HL2 stuff, so I have to map on HL1 then convert it to HL2 format. It works that way. The level design will work on both Half Life games, plus I will have the map and texture allignments ready for the next game I decide to attach SS maps to :P
At the moment, I am working on level design only, I have gotten custom sounds to work at some extent, but im not working on anything else atm (except for messing with high-res images, which if you look at my latest screenshot, doesnt look too bad on HL1. I havent touched it for HL2 in a while, since that is going to require a bit more work to reset my program with HL2 requirements.

Why would the HL1 engine be an improvement over Dark engine? IMO Dark engine looks better than HL1!
It reminds me of my bro showing me some goofball HL1 Doom map that looked like ass compared to what the Doomsday folks have pulled together with their own engine.

Well, the HL1 engine was nothing to be proud of even back in '98...
