Which is why it is so much more effective to create projects of this size with a team of people that have talents in the various categories of game design.
If you don't know coding, then isn't it going to be tough to make stuff like searching bodies for items, the security percentage pop-up, etc., etc.?

pics are at (
http://www.geocities.com/kodan50/SSHLCP.html), as for like HL specifics, thats whyu im asking for help. I am going to make the level, and try to impliment as much stuff as I can, but I need someone's help, and I will be posting a bit at some HL dev forums as well. I might make some kind of alternate game myself, like, im a security guard who got shot during a raid of rioters aboard the station, a few years before SHODAN was ever created, and thus I can avoid lots of problems, even back before the mysterious "shaft damage" in the elevator. If it will work I have no idea, but I might as well try. Im going to have plenty of hard times trying to get camera and monitor sync to shows what is going on at all times. ....
But, like I said, first I should get a level working ..

I am sorry to say this but this mod does not look any better then the original game i mean if you are really going to do this at least make some of the textures look better.

Quality takes time, maybe he isn't working on the texturing until later. You gotta start with the brush work and get a basic level together, then the detailing such as brush detail, texturing, lighting, etc.; starts.

To be completely honest, the textures used on Citadel don't really make much sense. Why are all the walls and ceilings covered in small blue tiles? They seem rather out-of-place in a high-tech space station - something that becomes even more apparent when you try to improve the textures.
I spent far too long trying to make an improved version of the standard blue medical tile wall for CCP, but I was never really happy with the results.
I'll try to find a screenshot...
[EDIT]
Ah, found one:

I'd say the reason is the game was already putting the computers of that time to their limits, using a lot of different textures would make even more chaos.
The remake projects could just recreate the levels, models, etc.; and stay at least somewhat true to the texture usage & design but make the Citadel look more high tech.

I would definately love to work with some higher end textures, but I dont know where to get some, if someone had some cooler versions, like that one pic he posted, i would try and use those. Textures did concern me, but im noyt a texture expert, so that will take time, especially when my program isnt liking my 24-bit BMPs too well. Im not done trying, so if someone has some better sshock textures, I will impliment them into my level.
I will hopefulply be able to finish off the starting room tomorrow, lots of problems created hold ups, sorry about that. I dont know how anything else is going to work, I suppose that will have to wait for due time. For now, lets stay concerned with level construction, textures, and freaking paper thing doors >_<

I found a couple high-res pictures to try in half life, and I am less than happy with the results. This is with OpenGL 1024x768, all other resolutions did the same thing. I tried other file formats to export, but all did the same thing :/

So, I think I will stick with my low res patches until I ever get Half Life 2 working and export everything to that engine.

At least it looks better than original SS1. ;)
But yeah, I'd work with Source than the HL1 engine. Although the Doom 3 engine would make a space station look much better, the lighting that engine offers is a killer.
