Yeeees! Of course there were all these crimes and they are well known here. At least among the intelligent folks*. Blame it on the government and the industry. What I'm saying is: it's the same shit done by the same people like everywhere else and I'm not defending any of this swiss history. COME ON! I live in switzerland and we had our struggle against all sorts of denials and romanticised history ideals to clear this dirt up.
What sickens me is when righteous people point their fingers at crimes of others, or even countries as a whole. Especially when their governments are the most criminal and corrupt of them all right now. Clean yr own yards.
*The others establish or vote for right-winged political parties like the above mentioned SVP/UDC, and still think we gloriously fought the nazis. But these are the idiots. Write them: (

Meanwhile, any Swiss who did help Jewish refugees were prosecuted for their actions,
So would you have helped them? Would I have? Every day? Under any circumstances? Maybe lose everything? Jail? Execution? Would you?
I think one should be very careful with mild hearted statements like these. I don't know what I would have done. Life's not a Spielberg movie, right?
And about that being neutral, there's a discussion here going on anyway. Some claim we shall stay neutral, and they're the bigshot bosses of our international weapons industry (making business for example with Mr Freeman's land of the brave, btw). Others regard being neutral as a means to support humanitarian and diplomatic causes and not by just not meddling with anything at all. Personally I like that we're not members of the NATO just because and then be obliged to whatever some war mongering foreign presidents see best for their own dubious causes.

Hm. Didn't know we had another Schwyzer on the boards. I agree with you, though. Well put.

Hoi. :D

As far as I know, the Swedish did the same regarding refugees. If you plan to remain neutral, I suppose it's probably not a good idea to start helping refugees, unless you wanted to give the nazis a pretext to attack you.

Near the end of WWII Patton's 3rd Army discovered a huge Nazi gold stash in an old Bavarian(?) salt mine - I think it contained over 5000 24 pound gold bars, 20 billion in Reichmarks, thousands of gold and silver tooth fillings from murdered Jews and literally tons of assorted plundered loot.
Regarding the Swiss - they had to remain neutral or they would have been swallowed up and digested by the German war machine. The corrupt bankers should have been dealt with immediately after the war ended.. but money like that corrupts everyone associated with it.
But don't condemn all Swiss for the actions of a few. No one should suffer the sins of their fathers - just as we don't blame modern day Germans for the acts of their forefathers.
EDIT: Europeans never do anything in moderation. Just look at the political parties - they either lean so far left that Stalin would blush or they end up so right wing they all shave their heads and goose step down the Avenue des Champs-Elysées. Moderation is a foreign word in Europe.
Brussels is literally tearing apart, young muslims are RIGHT NOW fighting police forces in areas all over Europe and all we hear are sneering self serving comments from righteous head-in-the-sand EU commenter's.
NATO: The autocrats in the Hague and Europeans in general had no moral dilemma when it came to re-flagging US warplanes and using them to bomb the living shit out of Serbia. Then the EU allowed KIA backed Croat forces to literally roam free to pillage and plunder the homes and businesses of non-muslim residents ....all the while under the watchful eyes of EU dominated NATO peacekeeping forces. The mask dropped and we saw what was behind it... so stop with the political sermons.

Out of interest, would you consider (

SD - You never actually take a position because you might then be forced to defend then indefensible. Single word post sniping takes no effort.Take a position and we can have a discussion.
D'Juhn - Sorry but you happen to be wrong.
