Nowhere. However the model is similar to the player model that has been modded.
D'Arcy on 9/2/2006 at 14:51
Like I said, that is the only available human model that is holding a gun.

TNT: I think that that e-mail refers to the way Goggles has been progressing and developing his cybernetic skills, and not to some past event.
I double checked the e-mail, and I'm not so sure. The end definitely is referring to his progression, but not the beginning. Since my stubborn German side just fought its way to the surface, I copied what it says:

I thought Polito would be my avatar, but Polito was weak. It was I who chose you, and I who had a robotic servant render your form unconscious. I then completed you with cybernetic grace. Your flesh, too, is weak, but you have ...potential. Every line of code in your sub-systems elevates you from your disgusting flesh. Perhaps you have ...potential. Perhaps once we erase my wayward children from existence, we can examine the possibilities of a real alliance.

Pray: As for using logs as "evidence," you might want to make sure the logs have weight in the first place. Note that in both of those logs, Malone dies. :P Plot-hole much?
cosmicnut: Shodan and Korenchkin mention that Shodan has only TWO avatars. No more.

Well, technically, the log mentioning Malone getting a shotgun blast to the stomach doesn't say he died. He could have used PSI-healing.

There are also many "projections" (please give me a better word)...
Ghosts. Or, "subhypnotic defects in the R-grade unit."

What really makes me wonder is: If Goggles didn't volunteer for implants, why was he in cryosleep in the first place?
That was part of the healing coma, wasn't it? Remember: the Hacker went through the same thing on Citadel. And for what it's worth, I don't think he volunteered for the implants either.
BTW, not that the skin of the ghost has the goggles from whence the player gets his name. Wouldn't that mean he already has implants (maybe not R-grade, since they're illegal)?

Gotta love speculation like this, gives the brain some food for thought, no matter what timezone your in (it's early afternoon where I am :P ).
Who the suicide ghost is, I don't think I really want to know. System Shock 2 very much tried to be open ended in it's gameplay style and this is a prime example thereof. A scene in the game that is entirely up to player interpretation. You have clues, bread-crumbs and various theories that filter through your head, but nothing ever substantial, no concrete proof in any direction.
If that isn't an example of open-ended gaming, I dunno what is :thumb: .

Ultraviolet:"Pray: As for using logs as "evidence," you might want to make sure the logs have weight in the first place. Note that in both of those logs, Malone dies. :P Plot-hole much?"I know he dies a couple of times, according to the logs, but I don't think that makes the logs less reliable. And yes, it's not even clear that he really died the first time.

Well well .. sometimes we just don't see the most obvious. Thanks.
I also thank you for that charming way of showing me how to use the "quote"-function :thumb:
D'Arcy:I see .. you know, I didn't consider the technical side of the game.
Of course, that makes sense. Goggles beeing the only model with a gun in his hand ..
Guess my "theory" becomes null and void more and more.
It seems like it's not easy to find anything new or some more story explanations in the game after 6 (and a few month') years after it's release.

just an idea: couldn't they have just made a normal skin with a gun in hand?

Whoops. :erm: Don't take that the wrong way; it was a mis-type. I didn't mean to put that in there.

Probably. Maybe ghost placement was one of the things that was worked on in the later stages of development (it would have to be at least after the level designs were pretty much set in stone), and as such, they didn't have enough time to make a new skin.
