She doesn't say that the apparitions always show their last moments. There are also, among others: The "Where'd everybody go?" ghost and the one in the Bon Chance lounge. She seemed quite happy.

Grassi is on Medical near the ICU, thrown through the railing. And he's dead. You find the Medical Crew card on his body - I doubt the ghost in Cryo is him. Why should it be Grassi anyway?

Can somebody grab screen shots of Goggles from the intro video and Goggles Ghost? Maybe there is some differences that can bury this.

They're the same model. That's exactly why they used it-- it's the only model with a gun in its hand.
Y'know, for the next release of SHTUP I think I'll retexture that guy just to spare future generations this silly confusion.

unfortunately, future generations don't want to play SS2. My gfs younger sister's bf tried it (aged 20) and declared, "I just can't play games with graphics that old anymore".
Next I'll try that texture pack on him.
How many texture projects for SS2 are there? Just the one?

Personally, this is the one bit of the game that I did not understand after completing it. I just assumed it was up to me to decide just what had gone on there.
My conclusion is that it is a previous attempt at SHODAN using a crew member for her purposes. He failed and you had your recent memory erased to prevent the same failure occurring. Possibly to prevent you from guessing who was masquerading as Polito? Or maybe to prevent you manually "erasing" your recent memories with that pistol. I mean, would you want to remember all that sh*t?
Just out of interest, seeing as Irrational members post here, has anybody ever asked them?
