If this thread is going to be around for a while could someone please do something about the spelling in the title, it's really bugging me.

The title is perfect as is.

Because that apparition can be explained entirely with information that's explicitly presented to the player. There was a guy, he didn't want to get absorbed by the Many, so he killed himself. The end. Yeah, his uniform looks just like the player's uniform. So what? The ship is filled with people wearing the same uniform.
Alternate theories try to make this particular apparition somehow different from every other apparition in the game, which is obviously stupid and wrong.
Subtext: Information in statement which is not contained in its text but is nonetheless inferred by the reader.
If you can present evidence of subtext, then the subtext is considered to be valid
even if it was not intended by the authorJ1M.

now, it's been a few months since my last playthrough, so i can't really confirm... but it seems to me that most ghosts, particularly the ones that re-enact their deaths, are near bodies, a good example being the cafeteria massacre- the ghosts fall and fade into the bodies splayed across the floor.
the suicide ghost has no such body, IIRC.

But not all. For example, the very first apparition you see in MedSci.

And iirc Grassi or someone has several ghost appiritions in different places.
Hmm, in fact, wasn't the first one a Grassi one?

He's quite near his
conviniently placed key corpse - near enough to let you know he died in the cryo recovery area, and approximately where to look.

There are corpses almost everywhere on the VB.

Sure that was him though? He's pretty stupid if he can't get out because he can't find his keycard, when you can search him and find it on his body straight away...
