Very sad news today, David Bowie dies at the age of 69. He has been a backdrop to my musical life. My strongest recollection was seeing him live at the Dark Lantern pub in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, it was before Ziggy but everyone in that pub knew he was going to be a huge star. A strange, talented, private, humble, professional and very memorable human being.
He will be missed but never forgotten.

Yeh was a bit shocked, seeing as he had only just released a new album. Sad news.

His final music video seems to have been a last bow:

The most consistent comment about Blackstar is that it was over too soon. The video shows him frantically trying to write while being haunted by a dark presence in a hospital room.
He was a gigantic influence musically, he'll still be studied in 100 years for his influence and impact. Heroes was the first dance at my wedding. Saw him live twice and have yet to see a better performer.
What a legacy. 25 studio albums, a number of films, countless memorable interviews and generations of musicians inspired.
RIP Bowie.

Sad news from a human perspective but to be honest 90% of his output was crap.

bangersnmash posting in this thread is sad news from a human perspective.
Finally got around to listening to the new album today. Very good stuff. It's sad to see the man go when he still clearly had great music in him.
RIP.

Quite shocked to learn his death this morning. While not my favorite artist, I still loved many of his albums and tunes. He was a true artist and influenced countless other musicians.

I remain unapologetic. Just because he's dead doesn't mean I like his music. Nothing against David Bowie the man though. Never met him so I don't know what he was like.

You're an idiot. You can have your opinion and you can hate Bowie's music as much as you like, I don't care, but is this really the best place and time for you to be such an idiot? When you die, I won't be crashing your funeral and telling everyone that 90% of your posts were crap either, so why would you do something similar here?

@bangers - The man was a legend, and he passed away. This is a thread for remembering that. There's a big difference between saying you just weren't a fan, and saying "90% of his work was crap." Why even post at all? You are an idiot, so basically fuck straight off, OK?
