These were just a few examples. But tell me what does an RPG has to do with a stealth game? I think even you realize what you just said is BS.
Of course it was BS. But no less so than what you wrote. If you like the game, all well and good, but your reasoning was hollow. Also, this Thief has a lot more RPG elements than any other, as far as XP and skills are concerned, so my comparison does not miss the mark by as wide a margin as it should.

Meh, there are loading zones and there are loading zones. From the way he describes this loading zone (and another of the players has chimed in a bit further down the page too), it sounds like the loading points are meant to be as seamless as EM can make them, with the game just pausing for a second or two.
It's yet another bit of bad news after what I thought was quite a strong E3 showing, so that sucks, but personally I'm far more upset about the rope arrow limitations.
Also keep in mind that the same players describe the interior of that manor as being as big as Bafford's, so it's not like it's loading up a TDS sized area.

If the player can move freely between these 2 areas (interior and exterior), if the guards can do the same and if all the information about our actions is transferred with us, then it's fine.
But if not... there's no next-gen Thief and TDS is back.

No, much worse. Because we won't have Hammerites, Pagans, Keepers and so many other things.

But now with this new stuff, this bs about rope arrow fixed point reasons, the current gen announcement and so on... I think things are looking bad.
Respects for saying that, SE; just when I get to the point where I want to smack you up alongside your head, you go & make a statement like that which just makes me want to pinch your cheeks. Also kind of depressing, considering you've been a major proponent in reminding the rest of us to keep an open mind. If
you think 'things are looking bad', then it really
is as bad as I thought it was.
Gawd. Now I really
am depressed.

Didn't take long for him to join up with all the "knee jerk reactionaries" that he's been ripping on incessantly for the past month.

Rope arrows at fixed attachment points, we may as well have f*cking ladders and not bother with the "shoot rope arrow" sequence .. ah sorry, I forgot shooting arrows is both "respecting the franchise" and "showing off the kewl bow animatic" as well
This is even less free roaming than the infamous "climbing gloves" from TDS
Does anyone know if the grapple only attaches at fixed points ?

I do believe so, but I may be wrong.

So far the only thing I've heard about "the claw" is that during the bridge escape sequence, there's a spot where you fall off and a pop-up tells you to press a button to use the claw. If you do, an auto-sequence handles it.
You also see the claw during some mantling sequences, though it's an automatic animation, like the crowbar.
Why don't they just include a "press button to win game" pop up at the beginning for those who want to "feel that they are good" and let the rest of us who actually want to PLAY the game do so?
