Mmm chunky!
I'm very hopeful about the combat system. I loved Arx Fatalis, and I can't decide if it or Thief: The Dark Project is my favorite game of all time. But its swordplay was awful. Not gamebreakingly so, but it could have been far better. And it looks like Dark Messiah will have the best, most realistic, and most intuitive swordplay system that I've seen. I say this as a swordsman.

I think the best thing I can say about Arx 2 right now is that... if Dark Messiah sells well, we can look forward to an Arx 2.
I think it's more probable that if Dark Messiah sells well... Will see Dark Messiah 2 and Arx 2 will be completely forgotten.

well dark messiah is out now. how goes arx2?
honestly if you wanted to you could remake arx fatalis on the source engine and market it for like $20 like what they did with half-life 1. then work on arx2 since more people would know about the first one and want to buy the second one

What would be the point? Arx will run just fine under XP on current hardware.

HL:Source met with universal disappointment in light of the fact that it is a straight port with no asset updates or additional features; besides physics and water, which came essentially for free with the engine. There would be very little advantage in spending the considerable time and money involved in porting an obscure game like Arx Fatalis to a new engine, and it would not be remotely cost-effective to remake the graphics and sound to modern standards at the same time.
There might be some advantages in simply rereleasing the original game through Steam distribution however, as many overlooked games have been recently. The problem is that Arx is fairly old, and the current offerings on Steam are not. (HL:Source aside, with the weight of the Half Life name behind it.)

The original HL is also still sold on Steam for the same price as HL:Source.
Which is an awful ripoff btw, as you get to pay the same price for the same content but without the ability of playing any Half-Life mods or maps.

I realy enjoyed arx. The sound efects were so real but the combat system was one of the worst I have ever seen. I hope in Arx 2 there would be a combo based system where you would be able to make more moves. I also believe that sword swinging was very slow.
The spelcasting is cool but some extraalots for precast spels would be welcome.
Also you should be able to perform alchemy everywhere not only on laboratories.
Enchanting was realy cool but I think that we should be able to create more types of enchantments on a weapon or armor for example a spel on a sword that will make it do fire damage or a spel that could freeze enemies.
The quest log was realy useles. I couldn't complete the treasure hunt without the walkthrow. It was a matter of luck that you find or not the clues.
Also there was no information about where to find the dragon or how to transform Lord Inut. I didn't knew about Poxelis Helm before I looked on the internet.
Another aspect of the game I realy hated was levitating. You couldn't climb or decend.:(
Also the dialog should be more like in Gothic where you cold discus about more things not only the misions. You had a list and you could chose what to say from it.
The game was to short. The quests were interesting but to few.
It would have been nice to pas beyond level 10.
I hope that the area of gameplay would be larger at least in Arx 2 and we would be able to go outside maibe the next game will be about bringing the sun back in Arx.
