Thanks for that video quinch! Makes me want to visit Nepal more than I already do
I think the entire video is really worth watching but if you want a nice synopsis of the study I mentioned earlier, hop to the 35 minute mark and go from there. If the data he presents has as much merit as he says it does, I really and truly hope that one day we will have widespread teaching of meditation or similar mind optimization techniques in place of antidepressants and other mind-numbing drugs.

Mind numbing monks more like.
Is that you Tom?

Of course, what was I thinking! Wouldn't want to cut into the pharmaceutical companies' record profits of late, now would we?
Better to keep people doped up and hope they don't miss a dose than teaching them to control and maintain a healthy emotional balance, eh?

Is that the same as teaching thier hearts to just, you know, not have an infarction?
Hint: I know what you're saying but the fact is sometime people need medicinal help. You're just being waaaay to generalising in your "doped up huuuur". Antidepressants often aren't "doping" in the way you are suggesting.

I went to a benefit for a hospital run by Tibetan monks living in India. They said that some of the monks no longer have to sleep because of their meditation practices. Some had not slept for ten years.

Gamma WAVES, girl, not RAYS. Totally different.
Don'thurtmeplease
Waves, rays, doesn't matter as long as it's like the old cartoon style where they're green and make a woowoowoo noise

Totally agreed on the Guinness.
@Starr: You have to run up to people in a park, arms extended in front of you and waving fingers. You then declare loudly that you're going to hypnotise them with gamma waves (also try making 'woowoowoo' noises). If they don't call the police, you're doing it wrong.

Do I have to meditate first
