The problem with this sort of 'banning' approach is that the ugly associations attached to whatever undesirable word will inevitably build back up over time.
Changing the word used to describe something ultimately does very little to address the root of the problem. With each new PC trend unease, insecurity or just plain hatred or disgust are simply camouflaged rather than being done away with or actually addressed.
