GBM, I did a little fishing around and I found a spider that fit's the size and appearence description. (according to your drawing) But the color is off.
The Giant Wood Spider. The only problem is that this spider is from Japan. but you mentioned that an exotic pet store opened up recently so maybe?
Just a stab in the dark. Won't let me post a pic but here's the link.

Nice find!:thumb:
The shape seems just right. As for the colour, umm GBM, are you sure it was purple, the lighting being inadequate and all?
Wait, it's a wood spider. I don't think its propensity would be to hang around in a dark garage. Animals are very particular about their habitat.
The < 8 legged ones, i wonder if this's natural.:weird:

I suppose yellow might be a rather extreme difference than purple.
I hope you don't have a pet bird...
"It belongs to the golden orb weaver family, which is why its silk is yellow, and this silk is the strongest of any spider. The web is about a meter across, and sometimes small birds or bats get caught in it."
Damn! This spider is pretty nasty...

It's mostly black.

Damn! Tigers are pretty nasty because they prey on deers.

Well, have a guess what happens to a tiger if it shows up in my backyard. I'll give you a hint; what's metal and wooden and goes bang?

Well if there was a tiger in GBM's garage it was probably consumed by the gigantic fuckoff spider of death.
Christ, the thing has probably grown opposable thumbs and learned how to use tools by now. Geebums, if you've got a chainsaw somewhere out in the heap of car parts I'd check in to the local Holdiay Inn.

Since you're asking
me, i'll answer.
That metal and wooden thing will remain unused because you'll be too busy holding yourself together.
But really, what was your point?

Dude!?!? You've got an itchy trigger finger. What gives?
I said nothing degrading about your post there. I was merely stating that possibly MY OWN suggestion could be flawed.
When I said
nasty, I didn't mean disgusting or evil. I meant powerful, dangerous, and efficient. Just like a sword with a serrated edge. Not disgusting but deadly.

My point is that you're a hyper-sensitive whiner with a propensity for sob stories. This womanly attitude regarding animals and food and self-defense is very lamentable in a male. Is it your religion which says that animals are reincarnated humans? Do you think I might have eaten one of your relatives in that delicious chicken sandwich I recently devoured? Well, if so, I hate to break the news to you that your relative is going down the toilet in a few hours, as will any spider I catch in my proximity indoors.

@Random_Taffer:
That was a general comment on an ignorant (because you didn't list the various meanings of the word then) observation. Had my father said it, he would have got the same response.
Trust me, i don't spend weekends finding ways to provoke you. The following is a genuine smile: :)
