The Outer Worlds 2 is OUT and y'know what, it should have a thread.

I'm like 15h in aaaaand... kinda getting hooked. The first TOW was a pretty middle-of-the-road Fallout-in-space. Competently put-together but unremarkable, tho I think a lot of people started thinking more highly of it after Bethesda put out their own (QUITE STINKY) Fallout-in-space. Yeah this thing is definitely better than Starfield, even if it's not a huge leap ahead over its predecessor or anything.

As for all the RPG stuff? Seems like you really gotta specialize in this one. Jacks-of-all-Trades GTFO. Putting 1 or 2 points in something feels like a big waste that won't get your anywhere. You gotta pick your 3 or 4 niches and pump points into em and hope they comes in handy. Thankfully the missions all seem to have plenty of paths through them, and if everything really goes south and diplomacy breaks down you can always just let the guns do the talking. The combat is fun, you get some neat abilities like slo-mo, double jump, ground slides. Dedicated melee and grenade buttons, natch. Stealth also mostly works well. All the intricasies of the factions and their politics are a tad exhausting, tho I feel like I'm slowly get a hang of the situation. The story is most engaging when you can ignore the main story and get into a nice lil easily-head-around-wrappable sidequest for an hour.

But yeah, so far, so good! Anyone else playing this?

Will probably wait for a sale (as I am with Avowed) just because of my huge backlog so there's no rush to get it right now but I love the first game and will probably enjoy this.
