I didn't really like Pan's Labyrinth. It was too fucking boring and nothing happened a lot of the time.

So what sort of films do you like?

Anyone seen his first movie, Cronos? :)
Ah, those were the days...
I saw it just the other day actually. It was okay, but I think I was expecting a bit more. Still, interesting take on the vampire mythos. And Ron Perlman is awsome as usual (what language doesn't he speak?)
Is this his only film that actually takes place in Mexico?

Considering it was his first and real serious effort (and considering there's no proper film industry to support it in Mexico) I'd say it was a pretty good first try. Truth be told, I -did- imagine it would end somewhat different, but regardless, I liked it a lot (and yes, a pretty decent original take on the vampire mythos overall).
Hmmmm...he worked in a horror TV show called "La Hora Marcada" (The Marked Hour) and made two shorts before Cronos, obviously in Mexico, according to (
http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0868219/#director) IMDB, but it seems Cronos was his only full-featured lenght film made in Mexico. Bummer.
Hopefully he'll be poking from time to time over here to see what's cooking and maybe help brew a new project, seeing how he's helping to produce a -lot- of future projects. :)
Also, the state he's from, Jalisco, is quite a beautiful state. Shame about what happened to him and his family that, in part, made him leave Mexico in the first place (I think his father was kidnapped for ransom).
*Wonders were Cuaron, Iñarritu and a few other Mexican directors are atm*
