If you liked Pan's Labyrinth (Who didn't?), the next movie by the director is now starting in the cinemas. While it has nothing to do with Pan's at all, it's still very interesting, continuing the trend with children's fantasy. Make sure to watch it.

Saw the preview a while back, looks great. Love the coastal setting seen in the preview too, dreary coastal areas are ideal for spooky flicks IMO.

Guillermo Del Toro is only a producer on The Orphanage.

Looks like The Others meets The Ring meets The Devil's Backbone.
Might be worth a watch though.

Unlike those, though, this move is supposed to be pants-shittingly scary. Low on gore, high on atmospheric tension that keeps ratcheting up until you feel like you're going to puke.
My sister, scary movie connoisseur, said it was the most frightening thing she's ever sat through.

I think it looks great, I'll definitely be checking it out.

It's pretty damn good. Clever script, solid direction, and gorgeous cinematography. Not quite as good a movie overall as The Devil's Backbone, but it does go harder for the scares. Definitely one to see if you're in the mood for some horror.

Apparently Memo del Toro (Memo's the nickname you give people called Guillermo) saw some work from the director of El Orfanato and decided he was worthy to bring under his wing along with the scriptwriter. V.good move, in my humble opinion :)
Ah, anyone seen IMDB?, There's an entry for 2010 of a Memo del Toro project featuring, apparently, a movie adaptation of Lovecraft's "At The Mountains of Madness". Neat, eh? :)

That is actually old news. Guillermo Del Toro has been trying to get that project off the ground for years. Hollywood producers keep telling him to add a love subplot and other shit like that, so he's waiting till he can actually get the proper backing. There were rumors that it will be his next project after Hellboy 2 under Universal, but I don't know how true that is.

Let us hope he can jump across that obstacle...Cthulhu with romance...ew...
Anyone seen his first movie, Cronos? :)
Ah, those were the days...
