Words fail me.
Wait. No they don't.
I'd like to offer a heartfelt apology to the entire world for spending a single second of my life involved in the biblical bullshit from which this type of ignorance and asshattery springs. In my own little corner of the world, I inadvertently perpetuated it, insisting the whole time that such idiots did not truly represent biblical christianity. Whether or not that is true, the idiots have won. They are the majority and I fear that nothing I did during my time in that culture served to turn back the tide of stupidity.
What. The. Fuck.

Unfortunately there are too many idiotic Christian fundamentalists in the U.S. to represent a clear picture of Christianity. Christianity is undergoing a "hostile" conversion, just like what happened to Islam after 9-11. Remember a few years ago that one school district in Virginia who banned any Pokemon material in their schools, including the games and other gadgets and claimed that the franchise advocated evolution?
As a matter of fact, all religions are gradually losing their peaceful ancestry and are undergoing a conversion. Dogma is ebbing away in today's world, when humans start to realize what it is like to live a rational, logical, and clear life without the need to submit to a nonexistent supernatural being.

What "peaceful ancestry"?
And Islam was going a "hostile conversion" long before 9/11. Even long before before Salman Rushdie's fatwa.
(so it true then- Americans knows only what concerns them directly :tsktsk: )

The idea that all religions were built on peace, morality, and kindness.
There is no way that Islam was undergoing any significant hostile conversion before September 11th. Have you ever seen one of those shows on T.V. where they go up to random Americans on the street and ask them what is the first thing they think of when they hear "Islam" or when they hear a recording of a periodic imam's broadcasted prayer from a mosque? It is usually very far from "peace" (what Islam means)
The reported is serious when he says they want them to be completely honest, yet even know they know they are on T.V. they speak what they have on their minds. Most of the time they try to slight cover it up, by saying "power", "aggression", or "rebellion". Few say directly "terrorist", and almost zero say something positive. Before 9-11, if you did the same stunt, the kind of image that would pop up in the minds of Americans would be "alladin", or "flying carpet", or "sand", if you said "Islam".

Come on jarane, I can see what you are trying to say but I don't think that's a common view, even just here in the states.
I spend a lot of time in the Philippines where there has been nothing short of a hostile conversion in the south since the '60's.
The same thing is happening all over SE Asia..maybe you wouldn't deem this as significant but that's really another issue altogether.

So by hostile conversion you meant conversion of those religions image to a hostilie one? If so, it was impossible to understand it from your post. I was sure you meant the transformation of the religions themselves to fanaticism and militarism.
And there was never an ancestry of peace to the 3 religions, not historically for sure. Idealogically? Yes, but it too was tinted with some good ol' hatred toward heretics, enemies and "perverts".

I can make an entire cheesecake disappear. Then several minutes later, make it reappear. Although not in the exact same state. WTF will they accuse me of?
