I just passed STALKER:SOC with OL mod and the ending was quite surprising and very different.
Is there only one ending with the OL mod or did I miss something?
Even though it was good to see a new ending, it was rather unsatisfying since it is one of the bad endings.
I should have taken some screenshots of the Monolith, that thing looked awesome.:D

OL has an ending now?
I just killed the uber-controller and had to walk back out.

Why do you think it was some new ending and not one of the original game's endings?

It was new to me since I've never encountered it before but obviously it's one of the official ones since it has a cutscene.

What was it then?

It's the one where the Marked One AKAStrelok makes a wish at the Monolith which was t be rich and he gets showered in gold coins only to have the room collapse on him(and presumably kill him) and it turns out it was just an illusion, those coins were just nuts and bolts that were holding the supports of the ceiling up.
And I've never seen the Monolith room before OL in the end either.

I was under the impression that that was the easiest ending to get - I got it the first time I completed the game. So you never went to the wish granter before playing OL?
I'm playing with the new Oblivion Lost mod at the moment and enjoying it thoroughly, love the blowouts and Alife, haven't joined a faction yet but I think I will soon. I do have a few gripes with it however - the new artifacts are way too overpowered, particularly since you can equip ten at a time. my artifacts are giving me +86% bulletproof cap which makes you as good as immune to bullets, and on top of that, there are very little negative effects from them. It might work better if you weren't able to transmute artifacts, maybe I should play again and ignore that part of the mod. Secondly, they made a right arse of the weapons. I've modded the more important stuff back to how I had it before installing OL 2.2 but originally they gave all the weapons pinpoint accuracy - the AK74 was more accurate than the vanilla dragunov, no joke. They also made the 9x39 calibre into god weapons, the whole point is that the calibre is subsonic to allow for silenced weapons like the VAL and vintorez but they decided to set the bullet speed to mach 3, eliminating bullet drop and the main disadvantage of the calibre, hence making the dragunovs useless. They also made the bullets, which were originally very heavy, one fifth the weight of 5.56 rounds and set the carry cap to 80kg. The new weapons are nice to have but again they made some interesting (read ridiculous) choices with them, like making the 5.7x28mm weapons like the p90 more powerful than the 9mms instead of increasing the penetration on them.
What are the other big game changing mods like?

I'm pro-AMK, but it's kind of weird to describe it's features to OL player since OL took many features from it in the first place.
AMK is famous for it's new system which some say it's unique experience and some say it's just a gimmick. There were obviously alife tweaks - though nothing to the extent of what aliVe did. NPCs pick up items, equip armors and weapons(if they like them). They also drag away bodies from campfires and such, this doesn't always work.
Anomalies are random, and they move after every Blowout. Most of them are invisible, and by default you have neither the detector nor geiger counter. There are two types of anomaly detectors, the better even puts them on your minimap, but both require to be worn on belt to work so you have to decide if you want to sacrifice an artifact for them.
Thing I love the most about AMK hovewer is the new artifacts(cooking) and the new "Random, Rare" stash system. Using both can be seriously unbalancing though if you care about that.
I can't speak about weapon balance because I always played with AMK Arsenal(Adds weapons and "balances" them) + my own realistic weapons mod since I made it.
Many of the changes are optional, either selectable during install or via AMK Options menu in-game.
