MysteryDev had previously posted that he's an ex-Ion Storm employee when he "released" the Thief: DS soundtrack. I'm assuming he asked Mr. Brosius for this when he was on loan from Irrational Games.

Just popping in to say Thank You! to MysteryDev (and Mr. Brosius)!

Thanks to MysteryDev!! I don't understand releasing it as a high bitrate mp3 vs. lossless, but happy to have the tracks.
The more atmospheric tracks seem to benefit most to my ears e.g. Med Sci 2. Now I can replace the bastardized CD I tried to make for the car.

Maybe because 320k mp3 sounds equally good and is over 2x lower in filesize?
I'd release lossless for archiving reasons as Zylon said, but for listening 320k is more than great.

I'd almost bet it's Eric himself...
Nope, I'm not Eric.
And just to clear up the question of how I "got [my] hands over Eric's original copy of the soundtrack," this is a copy of the soundtrack that Eric burned for me a long time ago. I told him I loved the music and he graciously burned me a CD (he's a super-nice guy). I've had it sitting around for years and figured that by this point there's no harm in sharing it with the other dedicated fans of the game.
So just to be clear, it's not like I got into Eric's stuff and stole it or something. He gladly gave me a copy, and I'm just trying to share the love with you guys.

Okay, nevermind what I said on the last page about importing 44KHz tracks into SS2. Turns out the Dark Engine doesn't support 44KHz WAV files. Oh well.
Still, we could use these to make a few in-game alternate remix tracks. Bits and pieces of some of these songs weren't used in the final product.

This was a fantastic surprise! Thank you, MysteryDev!

I don't suppose they'd sound any better than the game music if we converted them into 22 khz wavs? I mean maybe the music on this cd is somehow superior to the game music in a way that has nothing to do with the format it was converted into? Slim chance but meh.

That's very interesting, considering that DarkLoader converts MP3s to 44KHz 16-bit stereo WAV files*, and I've never had any trouble hearing them.
* Depending on the bitrate of the source MP3.
