Ah I see. But even allmighty MysteryDev can't magically muliply the quality of original 44.1/16 audio CD tracks by 1.5 if he grabs them in 24-bits. That would be voodoo.

I call it filling with zeros the missing bits.

Whoa. Déjà vu.
What did you just say?
Nothing. Just had a little déjà vu.
What happened? What did you see?
A series of posts went past us and then I saw another series that looked just like it.
How much like it? Were it the same posts?
It might have been. I'm not sure. What is it?
A déjà vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something.

Which part is the deja vu, the CD 16bit audio data ripping at 24bits?
I wonder. Because to conform to 24bit data you have fill with zeros or make up some non existent info.

Are you sure those are zeros? What if there is extra data added from my audio driver? The X-Fi does have a 24bit crystalizer feature.

It would be the same as my Panasonic DVD player, and its remasterization to 192KHz techniques 1, 2 and 3, is not the same original audio that was on the 24bit masters, and you can only regenerate digitally harmonics that were supposed to be there in the analogue domain up to 100KHz only that is not possible to go over 90-92KHz due to Nyquist's theorem sampling at 192KHz should not be used at 96KHz audio but lower in the analogue domain.
You can try instead to use analogue amplifiers natural harmonics regeneration, as it always recreate more musical sub sonics and ultrasonics than any artificial system could do.
And BTW all those "digital amplifiers" should be relabeled as PWM fast switching amplifiers, as there are no digital amplifiers.
You can listen to the PCM audio stream as is but it would sound extremely distorted. (I know coz I did exactly that back in my digital echo design days).

Just stumbled across this thread after wondering if there indeed was an official version of the soundtrack available for download, I completed a runthrough of the game around six months ago and sincerely love a lot of the ingame music. Thanks MysteryDev, awesome work!

MysteryDev! We need you!
2Bjossi: hard to believe, but X-Fi doesn't support 24 bits! It's very difficult and expensive to make that. X-Fi is about 18 bits. Yes, IT thinks it makes a true 24-bits sound. But believe me - that's not the way it seems.
I'm talking about 1:1 copying of audio-disc. It means that NO "quiality increasion" is needed. It may sound better or worst, but not exactly like an original!
Anyone knows MysteryDev's real name? I may know him or his colleagues.

Maybe not the way it seems, but the way it
sounds might be a different story. Why the hell would they call it 24-bit when it isn't? I'm gonna believe the numbers rather than you in this case. Sorry mein freund.
