Meh, over producing a song like it's a space shuttle launch and micromanaging every picosecond of it is not my bag of mushroom.
Which tracks do you feel are overproduced? I think a lot of the later stuff is great exactly because the production is minimalist, like Bound 2 which I already praised in the OP, but I'll go on about it a bit more here.

NSFW!
Try not to be distracted by the naked lady tho and listen to the music instead. Most of that is just 2 samples: a few looping seconds of "Bound" by Ponderosa Twins Plus One, and a vocal sample from Brenda Lee's "Sweet Nothin's". Played at almost as loud a level as the vocals, and with no extra stuff laid on top. And all the components cut roughly from one to the next, no fading or even trying to make it seamless. To my ears, it is rough as hell, and oh so beautiful.

henke, that's... oh, god. My god. Maybe I've got it wrong, but MBDTF was excellent exactly because it was maximalist as fuck, everything thrown in along with the goddamn kitchen sink and a couple of cement mixers. Elton John piano lines, Bon Iver outro song, Kanye vocoded and fuzzed to sound like a robot for the entire last third of a song, Nicki goddamn Minaj doing a properly great performance -- seriously, when does that even happen?
But Bound 2 is... no, beautiful is not the word for it. I mean, look at the like:dislike ratio on it. Good gosh, this thing.

Yeah, I like MBDTF for that reason too. I was merely pointing out an example of recent Kanye song that isn't overproduced to get dema's view on it.
But yes, Bound 2 is beautiful, no matter how you and the majority of youtube users feel about it.

Heh, agree to disagree on our opinions then. I personally think that song's an example of Kanye actively not giving a toss, never mind not overproducing it.
edit: as for the video, rapping while dryhumping Kim as she's naked and completely oblivious while they're on a bike with a ridiculous greenscreen background is a sight even the universe must find hilarious.

I think the production on Yeezus was nice, but at the end of the day I'd rather listen to a better executed version of a similar aesthetic like Death Grips or the Saul Williams record produced by Trent Reznor.
Bound 2 was one of the worst on the album though, and downright irritating IMO - Blood on the Leaves was the best it got and even that was marred by a trap beat and autotuned backing vox making it feel trendier than it needed to.
As far as the new record goes, Real Friends is a pretty fantastic song, and No Parties in LA is great (largely thanks to Kendrick). A couple of other tracks have great production (Ultralight Beam, FML) but the vocals/lyrics kind of kill the replayability value for me.

"I wanna fuck you hard on the sink. After that get you something to drink."
Yeah, this guy is a poet deluxe. Ima let you finish but it's my opinion that the Emperor is totally fucking naked.

Don't forget the recent classic:
Quote:
I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous.
Classy guy, there.
froghawk on 18/2/2016 at 04:57
Or how about 'Eatin' Asian pussy, all I need was sweet and sour sauce'
'My daughter look just like Sia, you can't see her'
'Sometimes I'm wishin' that my dick had GoPro
So I could play that shit back in slo-mo'
...he really needs to quit rapping, there are so many amazing rappers out there who could make great use of his beats. He's wasting his best on himself these days.

Ok, serious answer that isn't just promoting Family Guy, btw Season 13 now streaming on Netflix!
A lot of the guy's lyrics are reprehensible, yes. But I'm not sure these albums would be the same without them. Would the pretty things still be as pretty if we didn't have to wade through shit to get to them?
