THE STORY SO FAR...
Kanye West's 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is one of my all-time faves. I've had it sitting in the driver-side CD-holder as one of my go-to driving albums pretty much since it came out. I was less into the follow up, Yeezus, an album which I've tried plenty of times to get into, but it's just not happening. I like
On Sight and
Bound 2 a lot, but that's it. I've been looking forward to this new album since the performance of
Wolves on SNL last year. The track was great, and Kanye did not hold back in hyping up his album.
"This is not album of the year. This is album of the life." he said. Then a while later, in a fit of un-Kanyelike humility he softened his stance on it somewhat, saying it would merely be
one of the greatest albums of all time, not
the greatest.
The new album was originally supposed to be called SWISH, but then it was renamed to WAVES last month, something Wiz Khalifa took issue with, pointing out that there's already a wavy guy, and was Kanye sure he was wavy enough for such a title? YES I AM WAVY ENOUGH Kanye said. Then Wiz was like ok ok settle down, then he said something about smoking kk(Khalifa kush) but Kanye thought he was dissing his wife(Kim Kardashian) and went EFFING FURIOUS, shouting at Wiz across twitter like Moses shouting commandments on the holy mountain. "I AM YOUR OG AND I WILL BE RESPECTED AS SUCH" he proclaimed, before adding "I MADE IT SO WE COULD WEAR TIGHT JEANS". The Verge has (
http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/27/10848730/kanye-west-twitter-beef-wiz-khalifa-waves) saved all of these tweets for posterity. Go take a read, they're amazing.
Anyway, someone eventually managed to shake Wiz out of his weed stupor and told him to go look at his twitter page, where he promptly explained what he meant by "KK". Kanye apologized, deleted all the tweets, and renamed his album for a third and final time, this time it was to be called...
THE LIFE OF PABLO
I listened to it last night, and again today, tho I did not need a second listening to tell you how I feel about it. It is great. Instantly likable. Fans of MBDTF will be pleased. The production and use of samples is
exquisite. I'd tell you to just go listen to it, but that might be difficult as it's not widely available yet, it's only on streaming-service Tidal(I signed up for the 30 day free trial just to listen to it). You can listen to a few tracks on (
https://soundcloud.com/kanyewest) Kanye West's Soundcloud tho, it has "30 Hours" and "No more parties in L.A.", two of my favourite tracks.
No more parties might be my favourite track. It has that same no-frills production Bound 2 had, where it's pretty much only roughly cut-out samples under the rap. The beats have been enhanced a bit but that's it. It should feel cheap, it shouldn't work, but it totally does. Just like with MBDTF, I'm a bigger fan of the production than the lyrics. Nothing wrong with his rapping or autotuned singing, but Kanye's life is nothing I can relate to or aspire to. The guy rarely paints himself in a sympathetic light in his lyrics. He's as unfiltered here as in he is on his twitter account. You just gotta sit back and go "wow, that guy". Shaking your head, but with a smile on your lips, happy to know that such a strange and magical creature as Kanye West walks the earth in our times.

BREAKING NEWS: (
http://www.avclub.com/article/kanye-west-says-life-pablo-now-tidal-exclusive-232299)
Kanye says the album will be on Tidal FOREVER, nowhere else. Also corrects Pitchfork's 9/10 score, saying it's actually a 30/10 album. And finally he tells white publications to stop talking about his album. I guess that includes me. So try to keep it down in here guys, I don't want Kanye seeing this and shouting at
me on twitter. :U

I'm not a white publication, so I'll talk about it as much as I want.
...oh, right, but I can't listen to it. Because it's only on Tidal, and I'd rather grease my innards with a pint of wasabi sauce than sign up for another streaming service. Yeezy, brah, you so OG you OG'd yourself offa my PC.

I know what you mean. I'm only gonna use Tidal till the trial is up and then cancel. I don't need that
and Spotify.

Well if you somehow manage to tear yourself away from those albums you've been listening to for half a year already I highly recommend you check out the songs on Kanye's soundcloud. Kendrick's on one of them!

He's gonna need to sell a lot if Mark Z. won't help him out.

Kanye is a gigantic douchebag. I could never listen to or buy any of his music. Sometimes you just can't see past the person.

Yeah me neither. I'd like to listen to 1989 to see what all the fuss is about, but it isn't on Spotify (or Tidal). The other stuff I've heard by her hasn't really piqued my interest enough to seek it out elsewhere either.
