Even with your trademark freak out at the end, you were still too late. :)

Might & Magic X is a niche game, for a specific audience. Of course, we could have chosen to make a “AAA” game, but then we would have had to make it for the general public. And that would have meant, ultimately, not really making Might & Magic 10, but some new, spin-off series with a new form of gameplay.
Sound familiar?

Be sure to check out the new Ultima that Garriott himself is crafting aided by the very fans of the series.

Yeah, but it's still Ultima and Might and Magic. You can play those games all you want, but move on beyond that. Expand your horizons.
Play Dark Souls. Play a shit ton of indie games. Play whatever, so long as it's something besides Ultima and Might and Magic.

GD, if you want to contrast the MM decisions vs. the Thief decisions, can I suggest you start a new thread?
IMO it would be nice if people wanting to discuss something new didn't have to feel they should tack their random topic onto the end of whichever random thread was going off the rails. Not that I care about this particular thread, mind you, I just think it would make the forum as a whole a little easier to read.
Anyway, I did see something that I thought was interesting in that article, but I'll wait and see whether you decide to start your own thread or not before posting it.

Get some recommendations up in Gen Gaming and stretch out your wings.
I suppose it is ironic in some small way that I posted it before in the General Gaming Forum... :p

I know there is a million of these and this has probably been said before, but the worst part of THIAF?
The fans.
Not us, this band of dirty rotten taffers, you guys are ok. We've seen a lot. I mean new fans. People who don't know what thief is, or WAS before picking up THIAF. I'm sure it will be a good game, outside of thief canon, that is, with some good sales, but how many new thief fans will there be that don't know where all this came from? Its like when anonymous became popular, or the slenderman mythos after the eight pages.
This always happens to something that gets big, especially after a new generation. I guess we just have to bear ourselves and do our best to educate the new masses on the old ways. Keep it going some how I guess.
Maybe we can be thief hipsters and say we liked it before it was cool get me a f*****g DRINK.
I made this thread two years ago. It was called "newtaffers vs. oldtaffers" and I was scrutinized by TTLG members. Others tried to prove that the average age of a gamer is above 20, as if that means something when games are made to appeal to 12 year olds.
Some taffer even completely copied my thread and posted it at the eidos forums. So While I agree with you, I'm not touching this subject here again.

I cant wait till the new blood arrives... the sheer amount of potential recruits... we must convert as many of them as possible to Dark Project.
