... I just realized that Drebin from MGS4 is basically Smuggler from Deus Ex. Same voice actor, same job description, same appearance (black dude, blond hair) and fashion style.
That's kind of awesome and has to be intentional.

Yeah, those games are somewhat similar. To me it feels like Deus Ex is a distant sequel to MGS, but it's probably just because of nanomachines and cyberpunk themes they share :p .
I've also read somewhere that Kojima was impressed and inspired by Human Revolution, and that future MGS games might have some kind of rpg /adventure game elements.

The majority of MGS4's Act 3 is basically Thief's "Assassins" or "Trace the Courier" writ large. It's pretty easily the best part of the game so far. (Just about to start Act 4.)

any fans of The Twin Snakes? I think that is the greatest MGS game. I love them all, though. Polishing up a masterpiece is never a bad idea, and it was the first "HD" remake I remember seeing besides the REmake.

I do enjoy the hell out of the Twin Snakes.

I had TS and enjoyed it quite a lot, but I have to say there was a certain flavor to the original, specially in certain key scenes, that seemed to work better in MGS 1 which is why I preferred it, even if graphically and gameplay-wise TS was the better game.

Ah yes. The bossfights are proving quite challenging even if the sneaking gameplay hasn't gotten any trickier yet. Got stuck on the fight with the PUPA a few days ago and haven't been able to muster up the will to give it another try since. Maybe it wasn't a great idea to try to play PW so soon after MGS3 (and a dip into MGS2), but I think I'm done for now. Might give it another go further down the road.
Regarding Portable Ops I might check it (and MGS4) out if I ever get a PS3.

Er, Portable Ops is PSP-only.

Ah, k. Then I certainly won't be playing it.

You should. No better time to be a PSP owner.
